Reposting something from ye olde boards that I don't want to lose...

In any case, once upon a time there was a debate concerning Aku that rekindled my interest in this weird, but interesting series, as well as in the chief antagonist of the same.

So I broke out the Samurai Jack DVDs, watched the relevant episodes (thanks IMDB!), took notes and decided to start a new respect thread for Aku, which was eventually expanded to include Demongo, the Ultra-Bots and other noteworthy minions. This initial post will be the index with separate ones containing the feats, categorized according to type.

Without further ado, let us begin!

STRENGTH

Aku has a significant level of superhuman strength, though stating exactly how much he has is rather difficult, particularly because his strength level appears to change with his size and because he never puts serious effort in his few existing strength feats.

For example, in Jack and the Zombies (S3E4) he transformed into a relatively small demonic form (barely 3 meters tall) to wield Jack's katana comfortably. In this form, he was able to cut in half a small stone mausoleum with the sword, before turning the rest of the structure into rubble with a backhand of his sword-less hand.

http://imageshack.us/a/img189/3093/akustrengthsmalldemonfo.jpg

Meanwhile, in Jack and the Flying Prince and Princess (S4E8), Aku in his usual demonic form (the one which is 15-20 meters tall) crushed into scrap metal an android that was protesting his vile actions, using a single finger to do so.

http://imageshack.us/a/img9/989/akustrengthrobotcrush.jpg

In Jack and the Warrior Woman (S1E6) when his body was roughly of the same size (though with the appeareance of the warrior woman Ikra) he lifted over his head the Guardian of the Oasis Jewel (a six-armed muscle bound giant, some forty feet tall).

http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9...raguardian.jpg ('http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9356/akustrengthikraguardian.jpg')

Finally, in The Birth of Evil II (S3E12), Aku trampled the kingdom of Samurai Jack's father using a much enlarged form of his usual demonic appeareance, hundreds of feet tall. In this shape, Aku displayed strength enough to casually crush the top of a tower with a single hand.

http://imageshack.us/a/img59/6058/ak...anttowercr.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img59/6058/akustrengthgianttowercr.jpg')

However, this same super-sized Aku also has an offscreen strength feat that dwarfes all of the above. In Jack and the Lava Monster (S1E10) we are told that Aku punched a mountain, in order to leave one of his victims (who had been imprisoned for eternity inside a cursed crystal) buried forever in the core of the mountain. Since the feat is supported both by dialogue and a flashback animation of the event, this event seems 100% legit, for all that it happened offscreen.

http://imageshack.us/a/img607/4848/akustrengthfbmountainho.jpg

Then he came for me again.
'Twas his enjoyment that day to punish me for eternity.
Thrust me, he did, into the core of the mountain.
'Twas his plan for me to spend all of eternity in the mountain, never to join my fallen comrades
in Valhalla, the resting place of all great warriors.

SPEED (I) - Reactions

Aku tends to be outclassed by Jack whenever they come to blows.

This, however, does not mean that Aku is slow reactions-wise.

He isn't. He is clearly superhuman. We see in several fights, most prominently in Jack and the Zombies (S3E4) and Jack versus Aku (S4E9), that Aku can keep up with Jack in protracted fights.

More important, however, is that Aku has a few reaction feats of his own that don't require power-scaling based in comparison with other characters.

For example, in Jack and the Warrior Woman (S1E6), Aku-disguised-as-Ikra was able to dodge energy eyebeams fired by the Guardian of the Oasis Jewel, after the beams had been fired. Though the power of the attack was not great and its speed unknown, dodging an energy beam still seems a noteworthy deed.

http://imageshack.us/a/img853/3056/a...yebeamsdod.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img853/3056/akuspeedikraeyebeamsdod.jpg')

During Jack Under the Sea (S1E9), Aku double-crosses a race of amphibians and in retaliation they deploy their military forces against him. When a bunch of these amphibians shoot him from relatively close range, Aku cackles a bit, insults his attackers (fools!) and then moves his body underground in time for the projectiles fired against him to pass over his head.

http://imageshack.us/a/img197/2313/akuspeedharpoondodge.jpg

Later, at the start of Jack Learns to Jump Good (S2E1), Aku suddenly teleported next to a time portal and took it in his hand before Jack could cross it, despite the samurai being literally two steps away. Then, after dodging a few attacks from Jack though quick shape-shifting, Aku trolled his enemy for a little while, keeping the portal just a bit outside Jack's reach.

http://imageshack.us/a/img267/7296/akuspeedportalblitzesja.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img685/2572/akutrollingjack.jpg

A couple more such feats happened earlier in the series timeline (but later in the show's run). The first happened during The Birth of Evil I (S3E11), when Jack's father (an amazing anime style super-archer, capable of firing two arrows at the same time and of putting a dozen bolts in the air, before the first one hits a target standing two dozen meters away) shoots Aku with his bow. Aku laughs a little and moves his hand to intercept the arrows, after they have been fired.

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/323/akuarrowabsorption.jpg

The second feat in the two-parter happens in The Birth of Evil II (S3E12). After the emperor receives the holy sword from the three monks representing the three gods, Jack's father attacks Aku atop a cloud Sun Wukong style. He initially tries to hit Aku from behind, but the demon somehow senses his approach and avoids the strike by opening a hole in the middle of his body for the emperor and his cloud to fly through.

http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7...einownbody.jpg ('http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7134/akubodyholeinownbody.jpg')

To finish this brief overview of Aku's reaction feats, I will also mention something happening in Jack versus Aku (S4E9). When Aku is trying to persuade Jack to settle their war with a fair duel, the samurai is initially unreceptive and tries to attack his foe, who manages to dodge by transforming himself into a bat, before Jack's leaping attack can connect.

SPEED (II) - Travel

Leaving aside the matter of reaction times, movement/travel speeds is also relevant to the subject at hand, so I'll briefly comment about the few relevant feats available.

For starters, in a straight line Aku is capable of moving faster underground than Jack can run, something that we saw in Jack and the Zombies (S3E4). With Jack quite some distance away and running as fast as he could, Aku went underground and caught up with him within seconds. Jack was knocked down by the ripples caused by Aku's subterranean movement and captured when the demon emerged as a forest of tentacles.

http://imageshack.us/a/img38/8933/akuundergroundspeed.jpg

Interestingly, though Aku is capable of self-levitation, he seems to prefer teleport or flying in the shape of some winged critter. It should be noted, however, that even without teleporting Aku can move around really fast inside an atmosphere. Case in point, during The Birth of Evil I (S3E11), he shot himself in an arc as a blob of darkness, which allowed him to cross the miles between the Forest of Evil and Jack's kingdom in a matter of seconds.

http://imageshack.us/a/img255/6051/akuuberjump.jpg

Something similar, but considerably more impressive, can be observed in Jack and the Hunters (S2E9). In this episode, Aku leaves Earth as a glowing meteor and goes to another star system to recruit the Imakandi hunters. Then, after getting their acceptance, he uses the same method to return to Earth. Considering the inter-stellar distances and short timespan involved, this tells us that Aku can travel at faster-than-light speeds in space.

DURABILITY (I) - Body & Regeneration

Aku is not hugely durable, in the conventional sense.

In his standard demon forms, mundane arrows have penetrated his body (seen in The Beginning, S1E1) and normal swords have carved huge gashes in his 'flesh' (observed in The Birth of Evil I, S3E11).

http://imageshack.us/a/img826/4765/akuvsarrows.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img20/5211/akuvsnormalsword.jpg

He has, however, utterly insane staying power.

And this is so, because he is ultimately a glorified blob monster.

Aku has no flesh, no blood, no organs. He is just a living mass of evil jelly. Corrosive evil jelly, at that.

http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/5...rosivebody.jpg ('http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/5724/akucorrosivebody.jpg')

So nothing really hurts Aku and he can truthfully claim that "no mortal can hurt the great Aku" (The Beginning, S1E1) and that "nothing of this world can hurt [him]" (The Birth of Evil I, S3E11). His body automatically repairs any damage he suffers and his parts, if separated, will try to reform (this was seen very clearly in Jack and the Ultra-robots, S2E5, when the fragments of Aku that powered the assassin robots fused with each other and were crawling towards Aku when Jack destroyed them with his sword).

http://imageshack.us/a/img18/4439/akuautomaticregeneratio.jpg
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/607...ageultrabo.jpg ('http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/6073/akuphantomdamageultrabo.jpg')

The full extent of Aku's regenerative powers is undetermined, but highly impressive. Battling Jack he has repeteadly lost 90% of his body several times and returned to peak condition after a while. In Jack and Swamp Monster (S3E8), he actually did this mid-battle, returning to his normal size after Jack destroyed the vast majority of his body, although his temporary access to the magic artifacts of the titan Chronos might have been behind that one.

In the whole, the greatest showing of regeneration is seen during the events in The Aku Infection (S4E4). After swallowing a tiny scrap of Aku's body during a battle against him, Samurai Jack's body transformed into Aku within a day, despite Jack's best efforts. Only a cleansing ritual organized by monks and Jack's last second weaponization of his spiritual purity saved him from being consumed by the infection.

http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/6198/akubodyinfection.jpg

Besides the above, it is probably noteworthy that Aku has shown the ability to operate without any issues in outer space (Jack and the Hunters, S2E9) and underwater (Jack Under the Sea, S1E9). He might be vulnerable to illness, however since he seemed to be sick in the beginning of The Aku Infection (S4E4).

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2804/akuill.jpg

Incidentally, though his base durability is nothing to write home about, Aku has shown the ability to shift into far more durable forms. For example, the giant stingray form that he used in Jack Under the Sea, totally no-sold a massed torpedo attack which hit him directly and which caused a remarkably large explosion.

http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/1...stingrayno.jpg ('http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/1071/akudurabilitystingrayno.jpg')

DURABILITY (II) - Sword Weakness

The main threat to Aku in the Samurai Jack series is Jack's sword, a great weapon forged from the righteous ki of Jack's father and a lot of divine power provided by the three gods that had previously defeated the primordial darkness. As a result of all this good mojo, this blade is capable of causing major damage to Aku, since it burns away large sections of Aku's body whenever it cuts and when sufficiently weakened it is capable of imprisoning Aku inside its blade (as seen in The Beginning, S1E1, and The Birth of Evil II, S3E12).

http://imageshack.us/a/img829/9898/akuabsorbedbysword.jpg
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/586...swordvulne.jpg ('http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/5865/akudurabilityswordvulne.jpg')

This is not to say, of course, that a small cut is enough to put down Aku. Guy has been beheaded with the sword ('http://imageshack.us/a/img4/5865/akudurabilityswordvulne.jpg') (Jack and the Gangsters, S1E12) and nearly bisected ('http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/1717/akudurabilitycutinhalf.jpg') more than once ('http://imageshack.us/a/img571/5865/akudurabilityswordvulne.jpg') (Jack and the Zombies, S3E4) without it killing him. Nevertheless, injuries this traumatic tend to cause massive loss of body mass (which generally leads to Aku retreating in a small form) or disrupt Aku's control over his corporeal form.

http://imageshack.us/a/img10/5865/akudurabilityswordvulne.jpg

Lesser injuries, though painful and debilitating, can and have been healed in a few instances (Jack and Swamp Monster, S3E8, and The Birth of Evil II, S3E12).

http://imageshack.us/a/img543/7012/akuregeneratessworddama.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img201/7012/a...ssworddama.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img201/7012/akuregeneratessworddama.jpg')

To finish, it should be noted that Aku's vulnerability to Jack's magic sword does not mean that he is equally vulnerable to ALL magic. For example, Aku battled the Elementals who created and guarded the Neptune Jewel and in spite of being defeated didn't seem to be injured by the elemental attacks.

SHAPESHIFTING (I) - Basics & limitations

Aku describes himself as "the shape-shifting master of darkness" and, by just about any standard, he is indeed a shapeshifter of enormous power.

As the ability he uses most often in battle, Aku has transformed into an enormous number of different creatures, both real and supernatural, over his many appeareances.

Thus, he has turned into giant scorpions ('http://imageshack.us/a/img87/6007/akuscorpioform.jpg') (The Beginning, S1E1), giant cobras ('http://imageshack.us/a/img197/9826/akugiantcobraform.jpg') (Jack and the Gangsters, S1E12), giant goats ('http://imageshack.us/a/img688/4381/akugoatform.png') (The Beginning, S1E1), giant spiders ('http://imageshack.us/a/img545/9239/akugiantspiderform.jpg') (The Birth of Evil II, S3E12), giant mantises ('http://imageshack.us/a/img138/9634/akugiantmantisform.png') (Jack and the Zombies, S3E4), giant bird things ('http://imageshack.us/a/img231/9391/akubirdformyc.jpg') (in a whole bunch of episodes), giant bats ('http://imageshack.us/a/img820/9401/akubatform.jpg') (Jack versus Aku, S4E9), giant gorillas ('http://imageshack.us/a/img23/598/akugorillaform.jpg') (The Beginning, S1E1), rats ('http://imageshack.us/a/img839/7056/akuratform.jpg') (Jack and the Zombies, S3E4), frogs ('http://imageshack.us/a/img823/8867/akufrogform.jpg') (Jack and Swamp Monster, S3E8) and quite a few more. And he can also look like different members of the same species, so the "generic human form" he used in Jack versus Aku looks nothing like the female human warrior "Ikra" he claimed to be during Jack and the Warrior Woman (S1E6) or the old man form seen in Jack and Swamp Monster.

http://imageshack.us/a/img836/1531/akugenerichumanform.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img6/9191/akuikraform.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img203/8039/akuoldmanform.jpg

Moreover, he can also alter his shape to wield weapons in handless forms (such as when he replaced the stinger of his scorpion form with Jack's sword in Jack and the Zombies, S3E4) or enhance the capabilities of a particular form (like when he replaced the arms of his female human disguise with wings for flight in Jack and the Warrior Woman, S1E6).

http://imageshack.us/a/img32/4959/akuscorpioform2.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img42/6545/akushapeshiftingwingedi.jpg

This is not to say that Aku's shape-shifting is without flaw, of course. Even his best disguises (such as Ikra, which fooled Jack himself for a number of days) are limited to the green/black/red color scheme of his default demon form, animals seem aware of Aku's true nature regardless of his shape (or so is implied in Jack and the Warrior Woman) and his reflection shows Aku with his natural demonic appeareance even when transformed (seen in Jack and Swamp Monster).

SHAPESHIFTING (II) - Special Forms

Besides the more mundane shapes previously listed, Aku has used a number of strange forms, some of which have displayed unconventional capabilities. Forms such as a fire-breathing dragon (Aku's Fairy Tales, S1E13)...

http://imageshack.us/a/img17/6086/akudragonformfirebreath.jpg

...tentacle monsters ('http://imageshack.us/a/img696/8271/akutentaclemonsterform.jpg') (The Beginning, S1E1), giant pterosaurs ('http://imageshack.us/a/img717/9789/akugiantpterosaurform.jpg') (The Birth of Evil II, S3E12), giant balls ('http://imageshack.us/a/img40/686/akugiantballform.jpg') (Jack Under the Sea, S1E9), Chinese dragons with flame breath and eyebeams that combine into some form of energy blast (Jack and the Zombies, S3E4)...

http://imageshack.us/a/img696/8347/akuasiandragonform.jpg

...krakens ('http://imageshack.us/a/img40/1727/akukrakenform.jpg') the size of a city ('http://imageshack.us/a/img405/8439/akukrakenformscale.jpg') (Jack Under the Sea), "forests" of tentacles ('http://imageshack.us/a/img96/8453/akutentacleforestform.jpg') (Jack Under the Sea) or giant stingrays ('http://imageshack.us/a/img534/9256/akustingrayform.jpg') (Jack Under the Sea, again), capable of releasing AoE shockwaves powerful enough to cause extensive damage to the buildings of a nearby undersea city.

SHAPESHIFTING (III) - Size Change & Combat Usage

Besides turning into other things, Aku frequently uses shape-shifting to alter his body without actually transforming it into something else.

This kind of alteration mostly takes the form of size change. Aku can (but rarely does) make himself smaller, as seen in Jack and the Zombies (S3E4), and quite often makes himself larger for purposes of mass destruction (as seen in quite a few episodes, including The Beginning, S1E1, and The Birth of Evil II, S3E12). The smallest humanoid form he has shown was about three meters tall and the smallest period his rat form, though he may be able to make himself even smaller if given a good reason. As for the large forms, Aku can dwarf ancient Japanese castles, modern buildings and match futuristic skyscrapers in height, so he can easily become hundreds to thousands of feet tall.

http://imageshack.us/a/img4/3069/akusmalldemonform.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img208/5185/akugiantsize.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img41/8294/akugiantsize2.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img690/8518/akugiantsize3.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img443/3438/akugiantsize4.jpg

He can also use this size change in combination with his different transformations, which explains the large number of giant insects he can turn into. This was shown particularly well in Jack and the Warrior Woman (S1E6), when Aku expanded from normal human height to his standard demonic size without abandoning the appeareance of "Ikra".

http://imageshack.us/a/img832/4623/akugiantikraform.jpg

Beyond this, Aku can use the fact that his default body is actually a mass of evil jelly to fight in particularly funky ways. His first appeareance in The Beginning showed that he is capable of absorbing projectiles that hit his body and shoot them back to the attacker, in The Birth of Evil II he opened a hole in the middle of his body so that an enemy attack would pass through without actually touching him, and the same episode showed him dividing himself into thousands of drops of darkness that took human shape and fallen weapons to become an army of human-sized Akus in the battle against Jack's father.

http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/1...bsorptione.jpg ('http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/1026/akubodyarrowabsorptione.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img822/7134/a...einownbody.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img822/7134/akubodyholeinownbody.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img203/4940/akuarmyofakuform.jpg

Nevertheless, the very best display of this potential for unconventional fighting happened in the graveyard battle from Jack and the Zombies. In this instance, Aku exploded into a mass of darkness that spread over much of the graveyard and attacked Jack by sprouting tentacles, clawed hands that would attack from several sides at the same time and such. Jack, without his sword, was quickly overwhelmed by these attacks, in spite of his attempts to disengage.

TELEKINESIS

Aku has displayed moderately strong telekinetic abilities in a number of instances (though never offensively), to levitate a story book during Aku's Fairy Tales (S1E13), to lift the heavy stone that sealed the chamber in which the Minions of Set were trapped in Jack in Egypt (S3E5), and many other times besides.

http://imageshack.us/a/img138/6493/a...ytalesbook.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img138/6493/akutkfairytalesbook.jpg')

However, Aku's best telekinetic showings are from Jack and the Zombies (S3E4). We were shown that Aku can use TK against anything in his field of vision, without obvious range concerns, since he used it through his scrying portal to make Jack get to the graveyard in which he planned to ambush him, by remotely moving a branch the samurai was using to choose his path. Afterwards, Jack entered a fog bank and Aku helped him get lost by moving around trees with the same means.

http://imageshack.us/a/img189/8184/a...stickmanip.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img189/8184/akutkremotestickmanip.jpg')

Later, in the graveyard battle, Aku in his small demonic form used telekinesis again to raise a section of the ground, forming a rock wall in Jack's path. Considering the amount of material involved, this is likely the best feat of the lot in terms of telekinetic force requirements.

http://imageshack.us/a/img542/7044/akutkraisesearthwall.jpg

Also, it probably should be mentioned that despite Aku gesturing most of the times he uses TK, this doesn't seem to be a strict requirement. During Jack versus Aku (S4E9), Jack corners human form Aku, who cheats and makes a stone column topple with a glance, in order to distract his opponent and make his escape.

ENERGY ATTACKS

Heat Vision

Besides shapeshifting, laser vision is probably the power Aku uses most often in the series.

Though Aku can fire the beams instantaneously, he'll sometimes charge energy in his eyes for several seconds before releasing the beam, for greater destructive effect (as seen in The Beginning, S1E1) or a long burst (he has been seen to sustain the beam for up to thirty seconds).

As with physical strength, the power of the heat beams appears to increase along with Aku's size. When he is his usual size, the beams are less than a feet wide and their firepower is barely enough to punch through stone walls or cut sections of a large tree trunk (Jack and Swamp Monster, S3E8), yet when he is a giant he can set a city on fire within seconds (The Beginning) or destroy armies with beams a dozen meters wide (The Birth of Evil II, S3E12).

In addition to the above, Aku is consistently portrayed to have some trouble hitting highly agile enemies with his beams. Jack has managed to dodge or reflect the beams in a number of instances and so did his father while riding a magic cloud against the demon shortly after his release (The Birth of Evil II).

http://imageshack.us/a/img21/8968/akueyebeamsimperialcast.jpg

Sonic Shockwave

During the battle against Jack at the end of Jack and Swamp Monster, Aku shouted loudly and created with this an omnidirectional sonic AoE that sent Jack flying into a tree perhaps a dozen meters away from his former position. Despite this, the attack caused no noticeable damage to Jack.

http://imageshack.us/a/img845/2871/akusonicscream.jpg

Fire Attacks

Besides his GREAT FLAMING EYEBROWS (TM), Aku can generate fire and use it to attack his enemies in several different ways.

In Jack and the Zombies (S3E4), Aku with his usual size and appeareance used fire breath against Jack from a distance of a few meters. The attack lasted a few seconds and failed to actually hurt the samurai, but completely incinerated the shield that Jack used to protect himself from the flame.

http://imageshack.us/a/img839/8256/akufirebreath.jpg

In Jack and Swamp Monster, Aku generated around his hands blue fireballs that he threw as if they were solid objects. These strange projectiles were singularly underwhelming in power, since Jack was able to defend himself by creating a small wave of water with his sword. Contact with the water turned the blue fire into green smoke.

http://imageshack.us/a/img855/8316/a...uefireball.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img855/8316/akumagicbluefireball.jpg')

Finally, in The Birth of Evil I (S3E11), Aku in giant mode projected streams of flame from his hands to set on fire the castle belonging to Jack's father, as the opening action of his first attack against the human of that kingdom.

http://imageshack.us/a/img843/5111/akumagichandfireblasts.jpg

In a related note, although not used as an attack, Aku in his Ikra disguise displayed fine fire control by illustrating the alleged backstory of the person he was posing as making figures with the flame of a bonfire (Jack and the Warrior Woman, S1E6).

MAGIC (I) - Battle Magic

Aku is a considerably powerful wizard, although this is something that isn't visited as often as his shape-changing.

This post in particular deals with the forms of magic that Aku has displayed and which would be useful in battle, regardless of the battlefield and its conditions.

Crystal Prison

The episode Jack and the Lava Monster (S1E10) features a flashback in which a cursed Viking chieftain explains how he was transformed into a rock monster. Essentially, Aku came to his kingdom, destroyed it and to amuse himself used his eyebeams to imprison the warrior inside an unbreakable crystal, which the demon then buried under a mountain so that the magic would keep the prisoner alone with his suffering forever.

After a number of centuries, the Viking developed geokinetic powers and telepathy through sheer force of will and fashioned around his crystal prison a body of rock that he later used to challenge warriors exploring his mountain to duels to the death, in the hopes that one of them would eventually best him and break his curse, allowing him to die a warrior's death. In the end, Jack and his sword were able to break the spell of eternal imprisonment and killed the Viking warrior.

http://imageshack.us/a/img51/1927/akumagicfbvikingcurse.jpg

I lay before him, ready to battle for the last time.
But the villain did not destroy me.
Nay, the fate dealt to me was much more cruel.
He imprisoned me within an unbreakable crystal... denying me a warrior's end.
[...]
'Twas his enjoyment that day to punish me for eternity.
Thrust me, he did, into the core of the mountain.
'Twas his plan for me to spend all of eternity in the mountain... never to join my fallen comrades in Valhalla, the resting place of all great warriors.
Through countless eons I laid still, but my will was strong.
I found a way to manipulate the material around me.
Out of the rock, I formed the body thou seest before thee.
Ringout Eyebeams

In episode The Samurai Called Jack (S1E2), Aku reveals to a group of aliens that he is guilty for the situation that forced them to request his help. One of the aliens insults Aku who makes the offender disappear with an eyebeam blast. He reveals, however, that rather than disintegrate him, he transported him to a place called "the Pit of Hate" from where he would return once he learned "proper respect". Much later, in Jack versus Demongo, the Soul Collector (S2E10), Aku summoned his minion Demongo from that same place, therefore proving that the place exists.

It is somewhat unclear whether the Pit of Hate is some extra-dimensional nether realm or just some nasty location in Earth where Aku happens to keep both his main minions and folks he wants to give a lesson to. As a consequence, it cannot be stated with certainty whether these eyebeams have a dimensional component or not.

http://imageshack.us/a/img823/1064/akuddumpeyebeams.jpg

YOUNG ALIEN: You monster!
ALIEN: Be quiet! I am sorry, my lord. The boy is young and foolish. He does not know what he says.
*eyebeams*
AKU: The boy will return. He will learn proper respect for Aku in the Pit of Hate.
Time Portal

Seen in The Beginning (S1E1) and in every episode opening afterwards. Aku's final move in his first duel against Jack was to "tear open a portal in time" that left the samurai stranded thousands of years into the future.

In order to do this, Aku released energy rings from his mouth which concentrated above Jack, before forming a column of energy around the samurai. After a couple of seconds, the energy column disappeared and Jack along with it.

It is unknown why Aku hasn't used more often this power against his enemies, whether he can make portals to the past too or if he can travel through time on his own.

MAGIC (II) - Scrying & Teleportation

Scrying

Aku has been shown to use a form of magic that lets him conjure a "window", which shows him whatever he wants to see.

The scrying window does not require specific knowledge of what Aku is looking for or its location. This was shown in The Samurai Called Jack (S1E2) when Aku was told by one of his agents that an unidentified warrior had sworn to liberate Aku's talking dog slaves. The demon summoned his scrying window without knowing the location or identity of the individual, and was visibly surprised to discover that it was Jack recently arrived to the future. This flexibility was further proven in Aku's Fairy Tales (S1E13) when Aku used it to observe random children playing Samurai VS Demon.

http://imageshack.us/a/img42/6717/akudivinationportalsurp.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img402/5869/a...portalrand.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img402/5869/akudivinationportalrand.jpg')

AGENT: My lord master, I have great news for you.
AKU: What information can be considered great for the immortal Aku?
AGENT: An ancient warrior of great power and skill has revealed himself. He has vowed to liberate the canines from your mines.
AKU: What impertinence is this? Show me the fool!
*Aku summons scrying window*
AKU: So fate has arrived. Many years have gone since that day. And now, my formidable foe, you will pay for my pain in the past.

In addition, Aku has shown the ability to magically manipulate distant things through his "window" in Jack and the Zombies (S3E4), and revealed that he could summon it in places other than his throne room in Jack and the Hunters (S2E9), when he used it to show Jack's appeareance to the Imakandi hunters. This also appears to show that the range of Aku's divination magic is inter-stellar, since he was observing things happening in Earth from another planet.

http://imageshack.us/a/img802/8862/akudivinationportalikam.jpg

Nevertheless, this powerful scrying tool has certain limitations as shown by Jack, the Monks, and the Ancient Master's Son (S3E10). This episode reveals the existence of a Shaolin temple in Aku's Earth, kept hidden from his eyes thanks to the efforts of an ancient shaolin master with telepathic powers.

JACK: Aku! His eyes are always watching! l must leave. l have betrayed your secret. l have revealed you to him. l should not be here. l must leave!
MASTER: Do not concern yourself, for we are safe.
Aku cannot see you here, for I shield this location from his vision.
You are safer here than any other place on Earth.

Teleportation

Aku has shown teleportation quite a few times and, oddly enough, seems to use a different method every time he teleports

Sometimes he 'blinks' into presence, sometimes he turns himself into an spiral that shrinks into himself before disappearing, sometimes he appears in a puff of smoke...

The specifics, such as his teleportation range, are a bit murky and he doesn't use this power in combat. He has, however, shown himself to be extremely precise in his arrivals, to the point that in Aku's Fairy Tales he appeared upon a throne, already in sitting position.

http://imageshack.us/a/img341/6590/akublinkaccuratetelepor.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img837/930/akuteleportspiral.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img692/2608/a...ortredglow.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img692/2608/akuteleportredglow.jpg')

In addition to personal teleportation, Jack and the Gangsters (S1E12) stated that Aku's entire castle can teleport. However, this happened offscreen and it isn't known how it is accomplished, so the possibility of it being some kind of technological teleporter, rather than Aku's personal power exists.

Besides, we couldn't even if we wanted to.
When we dragged you out, Aku's castle disappeared.
Who knows where it'll pop up next.

MAGIC (III) - Other Magic

Animal Control

While presenting himself as a wise, albeit ill-tempered wizard during the events of Jack and Swamp Monster (S3E8), Aku was frustrated by the speed of their travel and cast a spell that summoned a giant crocodile to carry them. Afterwards, Aku and Jack were shown riding a giant pteranodon and snake, presumably summoned and controlled using the same magic.

http://imageshack.us/a/img690/4599/akumagicanimalmounts.jpg

Illusions

Aku would seem to have the ability to make minor illusions or, at least, that's how I interpret the apparition of a miniature Samurai Jack in Aku's hands in the middle of his rant at the beginning of Jack versus Demongo, the Soul Collector (S2E10).

http://imageshack.us/a/img267/3275/a...turejackil.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img267/3275/akumagicminiaturejackil.jpg')

Matter Creation

The demon has shown the ability to create matter out of nothing with his sorcery. This is most clearly shown in Jack and the Hunters (S2E9), when he creates a pile of treasure as payment while trying to convince the Imakandi to hunt Jack for him, and The Birth of Evil I (S3E11), when after dunking Jack's father in the pool of evil he created a giant tree to tie the emperor to.

Interestingly enough, when the giant tree was destroyed by Sleipnir in The Birth of Evil II (S3E12), the effect was reminiscent of the sword's effect upon Aku's own flesh, suggesting a common vulnerability.

http://imageshack.us/a/img109/9974/a...uremateria.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img109/9974/akumagictreasuremateria.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img204/8829/akumagicdarknesscontrol.jpg

Weather Control

Finally, Aku has shown the ability to control the weather to an extent. His very first act upon appearing in The Birth of Evil I was to summon clouds to cover the land in darkness and right after presenting a pile of treasure to the Imakandi in Jack and the Hunters, Aku promised further payment by creating a rain of precious jewels falling from a sudden storm that would "flood their world".

It is unclear, however, whether the jewels he showed were solid (which would be another Matter Creation feat) or an illusion to explain the promised reward (which would be an Illusions feat).

MAGIC (IV) - Situational Magic

Unlike the magic in the previous three posts, this one deals with a few feats that despite being some of Aku's most impressive showings seem to have required either specific conditions, location or the use of magic artifacts.

Evil Clone Spell (Mad Jack)

Jack versus Mad Jack (S1E8) is an episode that focuses in the fight between Jack and an evil clone of himself, magically created by Aku from his throne room.

Ultimately, Jack won against his evil clone by meditating and restoring his serenity of spirit, since the frustration that he had been feeling as a result of countless bounty hunter attacks was what allowed Aku to cast the spell and create Mad Jack in the first place.

So... feat exists, but Aku requires an opponent feeling negative emotions. Also, the cloning is not particularly instantaneous, so it might be difficult to perform the spell in an arena type versus.
http://imageshack.us/a/img844/1662/akumagicmadjackcreation.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img35/2613/ak...jackdefeat.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img35/2613/akumagicmadjackdefeat.jpg')

Necromancy

The second stage of Aku's unusually successful plan in Jack and the Zombies (S3E4) involved raising the deceased corpses of a huge graveyard, turning them into an army of zombie warriors. These zombies were not very durable, but used weapons and shields, and one of them randomly displayed intelligence and supernatural powers (flight and possession, which it used to take control of Jack's sword and give it to Aku).

So... feat exists, but Aku needs some corpses before he can do this. Not that that is a huge problem for Aku in most situations, of course.

http://imageshack.us/a/img152/7638/a...necromancy.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img152/7638/akumagicnecromancy.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img839/6130/akumagicwitchzombieswor.jpg

Soul Trap

At the end of Jack versus Demongo, the Soul Collector (S2E10), the titular villain was killed by his army of previously enslaved warriors. His essence reformed inside a crystal skull being held by Aku who crushed it in punishment for his minion's failure, despite pleas for mercy.

http://imageshack.us/a/img19/9020/akumagicdemongosdeathcr.jpg

Though the feat exists, obviously enough, it is unclear whether this was accomplished by Aku's personal power or some power of the crystal skull (which looked like a larger version of the skulls used by Demongo in his reanimation tricks earlier in the episode). And if this was a power of the skull, it is unknown if Aku has more of these around or he smashed the only one he had.

So... feat exists, but essentially useless for arena type versus.

Titan Revival Spell

Aku's endgame during the Jack and Swamp Monster (S3E8) situation was to gather the three artifacts formerly belonging to Chronos, father of Zeus, and then cast a spell from a grimoire that created a mindless cosmic energy facsimile of the titan, under Aku's command. Though the spell was successfully cast, Jack had actually seen the betrayal coming and sabotaged the spell, which caused the pseudo-titan to fall apart shortly afterwards.

So... feat exists, but requires very specific artifacts that Aku no longer has access to.

FINAL NOTES

There are a number of feats that haven't been included in the above posts, for a variety of reasons.

*The Samurai Called Jack (S1E2) included Aku claiming to have stolen the oceans of another world in a different galaxy entirely. Since we don't know any specifics and Aku might have used some of his hi-tech to accomplish the deed, instead of his personal power, I hesitate to call it a feat of his. Particularly because it far dwarfes anything else ever done by Aku.

ALIEN: My lord, we are the Vadaquas from the Mosconian Galaxy. Our water planet has been pillaged. All the oceans that were once our home are gone. We have searched long to find a planet with oceans rich enough to sustain our people. And your world is our last hope for survival.
AKU: I know of your plight, Vadaquian. For you see, I am he who has taken your waters and the riches within them.
*Jack Under the Sea (S1E9) featured the undersea city of the Triceraquins, amphibians who were banished to the bottom of the ocean along with their city by Aku, who promised them to lift their city if they captured Jack for him (only to go back on his promise immediately). Not included as a feat, for exactly the same reasons as the oceal stealing incident.

TRICERAQUIN KING: Due to the nature of our geography, it's not often that we receive visitors. In fact, you're the first. Of course, it wasn't always like this. We were once a very social race. Our people lived on the surface of the ocean and traded with the locals of the mainland. That was, of course, before he came and banished us to the bottom of the sea.
JACK: Aku.
TRICERAQUIN KING: Yes. But that's ancient history now.
*The Tale of X-9 (S4E11) episode includes a brief flashback in which we see a giant form Aku standing over the collapsing ruins of a modern city. Since we don't know the specific cause of the destruction, it wasn't included above.

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/1181/akuuncertaincitydestruc.jpg

*Finally, Aku has shown a couple of times vague (and wildly inconsistent) superhuman senses. In Jack and the Zombies (S3E4), he claimed that he could smell the blood of a hiding Jack (that he immediately eye-beamed his hiding place would seem to support the claim, though), something never shown before or afterwards (including situations in which it would have helped him). Along the same lines, in Jack and the Flying Prince and Princess (S4E8), Aku "sensed a presence" when a hiding Jack removed his sword from its sheath (which would have been useful in a number of situations, including the sword switcheroo nonsense of the next episode).

Where are you, samurai? You can run, but you cannot hide, because l can smell your blood.

And with this, the thread comes to an end, at least in regards to Aku himself. If you want to comment anything, now is a good moment.

THE GREAT DARKNESS

Though most fans of the show and people who bother with this thread are familiar with the contents of this post, some have asked me to do a little article about the primordial darkness that spawned Aku, so... here you have it.

http://imageshack.us/a/img341/668/primordialdarkness.jpg

Appearing only in the first minutes of The Birth of Evil I (S3E11), the Great Darkness was a cosmic entity of enormous size and undetermined intelligence (what little we see of its actions suggests a feral pattern of behaviour). For reasons undetermined, it was eventually hunted down and assaulted by a coalition of three gods: Rama (Hindu pantheon), Odin (Norse pantheon) and Ra (Egyptian pantheon).

http://imageshack.us/a/img21/7691/pr...knesstheth.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img21/7691/primordialdarknesstheth.jpg')

Having failed in its attempts to escape the gods, the Great Darkness was forced to battle them, using the same form of shape-shifting later displayed by Aku... and absolutely no other power. In spite of its desperate struggle and what seem attempts to absorb the gods, the primordial shadow appears to have shared Aku's weakness against holy power. Though not easily, the Great Darkness was eventually defeated and mostly destroyed...

http://imageshack.us/a/img821/4550/p...knessvsgod.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img821/4550/primordialdarknessvsgod.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img812/4550/p...knessvsgod.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img812/4550/primordialdarknessvsgod.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img818/3544/p...knessramaa.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img818/3544/primordialdarknessramaa.jpg')

...mostly destroyed, because the gods appear to have missed at the time the fall towards a nearby galaxy of the unburned tip of one of the shadow's many tentacles.

http://imageshack.us/a/img837/3817/primordialdarknessthelo.jpg

THE FOREST OF EVIL

After an undetermined period of time in intergalactic and interstellar space, the tentacle of the Great Darkness reached a solar system and gravity made it crash against the surface of the third planet, putting an end to the then dominant lifeforms in the planet. In other words, the thing that eventually became Aku was the dino-killer asteroid.

http://imageshack.us/a/img211/6292/p...knessdinok.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img211/6292/primordialdarknessdinok.jpg')

Rather than a crater, the tentacle created a vast pool of bubbling black ooze that for the next sixty million years would suck in animals, plants and eventually humans, sprouting after each absorption spiky tree-like things that formed an ever-growing Forest of Evil.

http://imageshack.us/a/img255/8286/primordialdarknessevilf.jpg

In the days immediately prior to Jack's birth, the growth of the Forest of Evil threatened with destruction the kingdom ruled by Jack's father.

http://imageshack.us/a/img717/8286/p...knessevilf.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img717/8286/primordialdarknessevilf.jpg')

In the hopes of putting an end to the curse, the emperor had his wizards prepare a potion to banish the evil and prepared an armed expedition to the heart of the darkness. Ambushed by suddenly sprouting trees and cracks in the very ground, only the emperor reached the dark pool in the center of the forest. However, instead of removing the taint, the magic potion actually resulted in the birth and/or release of the demon Aku.

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/2402/birthofaku.jpg

The rest, as they say, is history.

DEMONGO

Though featured in just one episode, Jack versus Demongo, the Soul Collector (S2E10), Demongo is one of the most memorable villains in the series, thanks to a combination of quirky appeareance, strange powerset and winning personality.

http://imageshack.us/a/img21/89/demongomockingjack.jpg

According to Aku himself, Demongo is one of his most powerful minions thanks to his power to "enslave the essence" of warriors he defeats and tasked him with the job of beating Jack. Oddly enough, we don't actually get to see how the essence-enslaving bit happens, but since Demongo didn't even try it probably is not something that can be done in the middle of combat.

Power-wise, Demongo has flight and teleportation. And is quite fast with both, since he was able to dodge several attacks from Samurai Jack in close quarters by spamming teleports and then floating above him.

http://imageshack.us/a/img217/9449/demongoflight.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img845/1427/d...meteleport.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img845/1427/demongoflameteleport.jpg')

http://imageshack.us/a/img89/9972/de...peedflight.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img89/9972/demongospeedflight.jpg')

He also might also have control over a strange blue fire that appears when Aku first summons him from the Pit of Evil and then when he goes to confront Samurai Jack. However, this fire is not used offensively in Demongo's single appeareance and nothing definite can be said about the matter.

http://imageshack.us/a/img96/2780/demongosummoned.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img845/1427/d...meteleport.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img845/1427/demongoflameteleport.jpg')

In terms of offense, Demongo throws one or more of the skulls that cover his torso, bombards it with a yellow energy ray, then laughs as one of the thousands of warriors he keeps inside himself is given new life and sent to combat Demongo's enemies/prospective victims.

http://imageshack.us/a/img528/6316/d...matesgiant.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img528/6316/demongoreanimatesgiant.jpg')

And if the reanimated warrior is defeated? No problem. Demongo reabsorbs the essence and can respawn his victim at will with a new skull.

http://imageshack.us/a/img844/7489/d...ereabsorpt.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img844/7489/demongoessencereabsorpt.jpg')

Of course, if he is in a hurry, he can animate a whole bunch of people or his whole army of enslaved essences in a few seconds.

http://imageshack.us/a/img5/2325/dem...rriorsfour.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img5/2325/demongowarriorsfour.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img836/5696/demongoarmydeployment.jpg

The members of this army are mostly lacking in feats, logically, although by statements they are all great warriors that managed to make themselves a nuisance to Aku. Little specific, however, except that four of them gave Jack some trouble and that they are one colorful bunch ('http://imageshack.us/a/img826/270/demongoarmycomposition.jpg'), which includes at least one giant, sumo ninja frogs ('http://imageshack.us/a/img7/1198/demongosumoninjafrog.jpg'), shuriken throwing mummies, knights with extending mace-hands ('http://imageshack.us/a/img69/6472/demongoknight.png'), robots with machineguns for hands ('http://imageshack.us/a/img24/5350/demongomachinegunrobot.jpg') and lots more weirdoes.

Ultimately, Demongo was defeated when Jack grasped a cloud of essence being reabsorbed. This allowed Jack to access the astral dimension inside Demongo where the true selves of the enslaved warriors were being kept and from where they were freed thanks to Jack's sword. This left a now powerless Demongo to the tender mercies of the guys he had wronged.

ULTRA-ROBOTS (I)

Background

Appearing only in Jack and the Ultra-robots (S2E5), these machines represent the very best in robotics ever faced with Jack (along with giant robot Mondo Bot). These killer robots were designed by one Exdor and powered by fragments of Aku, who decided to test them upon activation by making them blow up Exdor's village (in violation of previous promises of safety in exchange for the creation of the robots).

http://imageshack.us/a/img703/3508/ultrabotsakupowered.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img41/3967/ul...rvillagede.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img41/3967/ultrabotsextorvillagede.jpg')

Afterwards, the ultra-robots went on a rampage through several villages and cities, hoping that their crimes would draw the attention of Samurai Jack. They were successful in this and managed to soundly defeat the samurai thanks to their adamantium armor and advanced weapons systems, but failed to kill him.

http://imageshack.us/a/img33/38/ultr...reaftervil.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img33/38/ultrabotsbeforeaftervil.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img12/6929/ultrabotsrobotcityrampa.jpg

Jack managed to escape and was contacted by Exdor, who wanted to help him to get his revenge. With a robotic arm provided by the scientist, Jack was strong enough to cut the adamantium bodies and killed seven of the eight robots before the device exhausted its energy. In order to defeat the last, sword-wielding ultra-robot, Jack had to call upon his honored ancestors, who provided him with a one-time power-up for his sword that allowed him to cut down this final enemy too.

ULTRA-ROBOTS (II)

Powers and abilities

The very high durability granted by their adamantium armor is the main trait shared by the eight Ultra-bots and which set them apart from other robots faced by Jack during his adventures in the future. This durability allowed them to completely no-sell with no damage whatsoever several of Jack's sword strikes, despite his sword's magical nature.

http://imageshack.us/a/img84/9110/ultrabotsdurabilityswor.jpg

Despite the name, however, this adamantium is not QUITE as completely indestructible like the Marvel super-metal, since Jack managed to overcome it with a strength enhancing glove (for seven of the robots) and by increasing the magic power of his sword (for the last).

Other than this, all the ultra-bots can turn themselves into baskets for camouflage (they can also rapidly roll around in this form) and share a number of different vision modes (heat vision and a green vision mode which allowed them to see Jack through a smoke screen).

http://imageshack.us/a/img525/7963/u...etdisguise.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img525/7963/ultrabotsbasketdisguise.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img820/8753/u...heatvision.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img820/8753/ultrabotsheatvision.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img89/1120/ul...visionmods.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img89/1120/ultrabotssmokevisionmods.jpg')

However, in spite of the above similarities, the eight ultra-bots are all equipped with different weapons.

Buzzsaws: An ultra-bot had buzzsaws, made from the same material as its armor, instead of hands. It showed no ability for ranged combat and lacked secondary armaments.

http://imageshack.us/a/img59/1911/ul...zzsawhands.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img59/1911/ultrabotsbuzzsawhands.jpg')

Claws: An ultra-bot with four claws, instead of fingers. These claws were attached to adamantium chains, allowing him to throw his claws at distant targets for mid-range attacks.

http://imageshack.us/a/img820/4884/u...tendoclaws.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img820/4884/ultrabotsextendoclaws.jpg')

Cloak: An ultra-bot with the ability to make itself invisible at will. Strictly a close quarters combatant with larger-than-normal hands that allowed it to deliver enormously powerful blows.

http://imageshack.us/a/img51/591/ultrabotscloaking.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img571/1661/u...kingbeatdo.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img571/1661/ultrabotscloakingbeatdo.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img402/7835/u...kingdecloa.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img402/7835/ultrabotscloakingdecloa.jpg')

Explosive: This ultra-bot's weapon was a chest-mounted launcher of explosive cable, which he could use to cause rather powerful explosions. It showed some decent skill with its cable launching and managed, at one point, to wrap one of his explosive cables around Jack's wrists.

http://imageshack.us/a/img513/5107/ultrabotsexplosivecable.jpg

http://imageshack.us/a/img825/3892/u...osiveroboc.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img825/3892/ultrabotsexplosiveroboc.jpg')

Flamethrower: An ultra-bot with flamethrowers in place of hands. In addition to the ability to project flame from its "hands", it could also defend itself by creating a fireball around its body. Moreover, this fireball could be expanded for AoE attacks of great power (at the greatest observed yield, the effects seem equivalent to the detonation of a low yield nuke).

http://imageshack.us/a/img836/7651/u...flamethrow.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img836/7651/ultrabotsfireflamethrow.jpg')

Gun: Ultra-bot armed with two gatling-guns at the end of its arms with a high rate of fire. Along with the shuriken ultra-robot destroyed the explosive cable ultra-robot in a friendly fire accident, showing that their weapons are powerful enough to penetrate the adamantium armor.

http://imageshack.us/a/img846/5421/u...riendlyfir.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img846/5421/ultrabotsgunfriendlyfir.jpg')

Shuriken: An ultra-bot with rotative arms who attacked by launching shurikens. Though relatively less powerful in offense that some of his fellows, he could launch his projectiles faster than Samurai Jack could deflect them. Along with the gun ultra-robot destroyed the explosive cable ultra-robot in a friendly fire accident, showing that their weapons are powerful enough to penetrate the adamantium armor.

Sword: A sword wielding robot and the last ultra-robot standing. Showed great skills with the blade, enough to match Samurai Jack in sword combat, deflect laser bolts with its blade or cut an humanoid robot four times, before the pieces could hit the ground.

DJ SALVATORE

http://imageshack.us/a/img526/2308/djsalvatoreappeareance.jpg

DJ Salvatore (pictured above) was a minion of Aku, of undetermined rank within the evil hordes, who was in charge of a brainwashing operation in Jack and the Rave (S3E2), which involved using hypnotic music in concerts to make the children of a town brainwashed slaves of Aku.

http://imageshack.us/a/img502/7737/d...ainwashing.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img502/7737/djsalvatorebrainwashing.jpg')

When Jack interrupted his concert, he first tried to get his brainwashed victims to fight him, only for Jack to make his way to the stage and confront him directly. During the ensuing battle, DJ Salvatore used a surprisingly effective fighting style (apparently built around breakdancing moves) that allowed him to hold his own for a couple of minutes against Jack, before being kicked from the stage.

http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6927/djsalvatoredancefightin.jpg

During this segment, it was also shown that his non-human body allowed him to survive injuries that would have killed a normal human, such as having his neck twisted 540 by one of Jack's blows.

http://imageshack.us/a/img594/6792/d...nstandardb.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img594/6792/djsalvatorenonstandardb.jpg')

Also, despite lacking superpowers of his own, DJ Salvatore was armed with some of Aku's advanced technology, including a gold tooth that could project laser beams (albeit not very powerful ones) and a wrist control that allowed him to turn his stage equipment into a giant robot.

http://imageshack.us/a/img585/6598/d...sergoldtoo.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img585/6598/djsalvatorelasergoldtoo.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img407/606/djsalvatoregiantrobot.jpg

Other than the bizarre source of its components, the giant robot was not too impressive (nor particularly large) as far as these things go. It was armed with pulse laser guns and was able to give Jack a few good punches, but showed no particular durability once the samurai got his second wind and started cutting parts with his sword.

MINIONS OF SET (I)

Background

As with the Ultrabots, the Minions of Set manage to be memorable foes despite appearing only in a single episode (Jack in Egypt, S3E5) and do so in spite of the handicap of not speaking at all during their single appeareance.

A flashback to Jack's child-hood in ancient Egypt tells us that these were creatures sent by the evil god Set to cause mayhem in the land of Egypt and that they were only sealed in a tomb, when the pharaoh called upon the powers of the other gods.

http://imageshack.us/a/img703/8016/m...ypthistory.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img703/8016/minionsegypthistory.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img339/7188/m...istoryrele.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img339/7188/minionsegypthistoryrele.jpg')

Long after that, Aku unseals the Minions and is delighted to see that their badass reputation is well justified, when they decimate an army of robots in a matter of moments. As it happens, the Minions owe Aku a service for their release and that service is to be the elimination of one foolish samurai who happens to be heading towards the temple for unclear reasons.

http://imageshack.us/a/img443/169/minionsunsealed.jpg

That very night, Jack arrives at the temple and discovers that the Minions have been released. 0.01 seconds after the discovery, they attack him and give him one brutal beatdown. Upon discovering that these are foes that he cannot hope to overcome on his own, Jack recalls a method to call for divine help written in the carvings of the temple, in case the Minions ever escaped.

http://imageshack.us/a/img528/1540/minionsvsjack2.jpg

What follows is a tense running battle, in which things look pretty bad for Jack at points, while he assembles the artifact he needs for the summon.

http://imageshack.us/a/img266/249/minionsbeatingjack.jpg

In the end, however, Jack manages to summon the sun god Ra. At this point, a couple of the Minions attack the god and are destroyed straightaway, while the final creature futilely tries to escape from Ra's deadly eyebeams.

MINIONS OF SET (II)

Powers and abilities

Stat-wise, the Minions of Set have a good deal of superhuman strength. With their weapons, they cut down enormous stone pillars, tore apart Aku's robots, repeteadly overpowered Jack and, at least twice, hit him hard enough that he left a hole several centimeters deep in a solid stone wall.

http://imageshack.us/a/img29/1558/mi...thjackforc.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img29/1558/minionsstrengthjackforc.jpg')

http://imageshack.us/a/img266/448/minionsstrengthjackimpr.jpg

In terms of speed, they are very quick with their attacks. Besides generic blitzing of a lot of robot mooks and more than keeping up with Jack, the Minions could do things like cutting a robot in a dozen pieces before the first fragments could hit the ground.

http://imageshack.us/a/img593/9569/minionsquickcuts.jpg

They also have high agility that allows them to make enormous leaps, run on walls or ceilings (possibly using their claws for traction) and by running on all fours can outrun Jack.

http://imageshack.us/a/img846/2518/m...ingrunning.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img846/2518/minionsceilingrunning.jpg')

http://imageshack.us/a/img203/9805/m...thsuperjum.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img203/9805/minionsstrengthsuperjum.jpg')

Completing their impressive physical stats, the Minions of Set displayed high level regeneration. Jack cut the arm of one and slashed open its torso, only for the Minion to heal the injury and regrow the limb in seconds. Moreover, these creatures aren't affected by Jack's sword like Aku.

http://imageshack.us/a/img84/1594/minionsregeneration.jpg

Beyond raw stats, the Minions were armed with weapons that burned with magic blue flame. It is shown at one point that they can use this flame for ranged attacks and one uses his as a homing spinning projectile, much like the Kienzan from Dragonball Z.

http://imageshack.us/a/img831/3295/minionweapons.jpg

http://imageshack.us/a/img820/7403/m...ergyblasts.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img820/7403/minionsenergyblasts.jpg')

Other than this, their only other noteworthy ability were keen senses, since they were using hearing and scent to track Jack in the ruins of the Egyptian temple.

http://imageshack.us/a/img341/6251/minionsscent.jpg

To finish, I'll mention that despite not talking and looking like animals, the Minions of Set were shown to be intelligent (more than most villains, actually). Upon realizing that Jack was assembling the scarab talisman he required to summon Ra and destroy the Minions, they tried to deny him the last piece by swallowing it. Rare use of brains for cartoon villains, even if it did them no good in the end.

CYBERNINJA

Samurai versus Ninja (S4E1) featured the cybershinobi, Aku's latest super-assassin.

Well programmed in the ninja arts of assassination, the cybershinobi was capable of becoming damn near invisible in low luminosity areas, thanks to a combination of dark coloration and excellent stealth ability.

http://imageshack.us/a/img87/8646/cybershinobishadowsteal.jpg

Its aptitude for stealth made its fight against Jack ('http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmkxsQnNujI'), one of the most remarkable action sequences in a series incredibly full of excellent fights, in combination with the robot's more than decent fighting skills, great agility and sufficient brute strength to break thick wooden supports in half with a kick or a sword slash.

http://imageshack.us/a/img59/6866/cybershinobistrength3hi.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img132/1551/c...wordstrike.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img132/1551/cybershinobiswordstrike.jpg')

http://imageshack.us/a/img19/2553/cy...trengthcut.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img19/2553/cybershinobistrengthcut.jpg')

Its durability, however, was nothing special. At the end of their fight, Jack discovered the robot's position and destroyed it by throwing his sword. This pierced the robot's chest and nailed it to a wooden support.

X-9

Tale of X-9 (S4E11) has for protagonist X-9, the last surviving robot of the X series, Aku's first type of combat droid, prior to the construction of his hordes of beetle drones.

The X series robots were essentially skinless Terminators who wore garb reminiscent of noir genre detectives, who in combat dual-wielded high-caliber semi-automatic handguns. Their only unusual feature of note was an auto-reloading system which allowed them to quickly exchange clips without lowering their weapons.

http://imageshack.us/a/img37/371/x9gunautoreloader.jpg

X-9 was essentially the same as all the other robots in the X series, except for an emotional chip that one of Aku's evil scientists put in his brain for the lulz. As it turned out, emotions gave X-9 self-preservation and a pride in his ability that made him superior to his peers.

http://imageshack.us/a/img29/3363/x9emotionschip.jpg

Eventually, X-9 encountered Lulu, a little dog, that he grew fond of. This resulted in X-9 retiring and devoting his days to playing music in front of Lulu (sweet thing), until Aku kidnapped his little dog and blackmailed his former minion into coming out of retirement to deal with the demon's little samurai problem. As can be imagined, this did not go well for poor X-9.

http://imageshack.us/a/img839/89/x9music.jpg

The fate of Lulu (sweet thing) after the events of the episode remains unknown.

IMAKANDI (I)

Background

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080220215218/samuraijack/es/images/5/5c/Imakandi.jpg

The titular hunters in episode Jack and the Hunters (S2E9), the Imakandi were aliens recruited by Aku to hunt Jack, after the failure of untold numbers of bounty hunters.

The Imakandi, rejected Aku's offer of riches in payment, but accepted the task for the possibility of a challenging hunt. They made their way to Earth and, in short order, managed to locate and capture Samurai Jack.

http://imageshack.us/a/img267/8232/imakandijackcapturedi.jpg

However, hearing that he was about to be handed to Aku, gave Jack a second wind and he escaped. This resulted in a high speed chase through the sewers of one of Earth's great cities, that eventually led hunters and prey towards the top of one of the highest skyscrapers in the city.

http://imageshack.us/a/img201/3514/imakandilifthunt.jpg

There, at the top of the building, Samurai Jack was finally knocked out and recaptured, before he could plunge to his death.

http://imageshack.us/a/img221/4776/i...afterkojac.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img221/4776/imakandijumpsafterkojac.jpg')

At this point, Aku appeared and congratulated the hunters for their success, before demanding that they hand over the samurai. The Imakandi, however, defied the demon and, following their traditional way of the hunt (requiring them to release alive truly challenging prey), escaped taking Jack with them to the place in which they had encountered him for the first time.

IMAKANDI (II)

Powers and abilities

Being primarily hunters, the Imakandi have crazy skill in regards to stalking their prey. So much so, that they were able to sneak up on Jack, while he was having dinner, with him remaining unaware of their presence until all four of them were about an arm's length away from him.

http://imageshack.us/a/img163/2221/imakandistealthsurprisi.jpg

Their senses, particularly hearing and smell, are also extremely good. They were able to track Jack by scent to a distant location within moments of reaching Earth, then kept doing the same during a chase through the sewers of a major city. And, at the end of the chase, they located Jack because they heard the sound of his clothes flapping on the wind.

http://imageshack.us/a/img89/9724/imakandismellp.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img713/343/imakandihearing.jpg

Much the same can be said in regards to their physical stats. Strength-wise, one of the Imakandi was able to block one of Jack's sword strikes (a two handed strike) by catching the blade of the sword between his palms. Speed-wise, the hunters are noticeably faster than Jack and able to catch up with him, even after he stole a futuristic flying motorbike and escaped from them with the maximum speed. And their balance is also excellent, at least as good as Jack's own.

http://imageshack.us/a/img341/425/imakandistrengthswordbl.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img38/3940/im...outrunflyi.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img38/3940/imakandispeedoutrunflyi.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img191/1339/imakandibalance.jpg

In terms of equipment, the Ikamandi mostly use non-lethal tools, such as twin spears that zap with electricity anything between them, blowgun darts full of sleeping poison, ropes (very good with lassos) and arrows that are actually snakes with non-lethal poisons.

No, really. They caught Jack because he grabbed one of their arrows and then it bit him in the hand.

http://imageshack.us/a/img845/5521/i...ctrospears.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img845/5521/imakandielectrospears.jpg')

In addition to all the above, the Imakandi displayed some magic ability that manifested with blue fire, reminiscent of Demongo's flames and the Minions of Set's burning weapons.

To list the instances of magic use, the group of hunters who tracked down Jack were transported from their homeworld to Earth by a blue fireball generated by some kind of shamanistic ritual, these same hunters later teleported with Jack to escape from Aku, and finally left behind a torch that generated a image of the head hunter that explained to Jack their reasons for allowing him to escape free.

AKU'S ROBOT ARMY (I)

Background

According to Tale of X-9 (S4E11), during his initial conquest of Earth, Aku was unsatisfied with the speed of his advance, so he made the evil scientists in his employ build him an army. A robot army.

After a number of less than satisfactory prototypes...

http://imageshack.us/a/img692/2374/akusrobotsprototypes.jpg

...the Evil Scientists eventually satisfied the demands of their dark master with the creation of the X series robots. These robotic gunmen, though limited in terms of intelligence, proved effective enforcers.

http://imageshack.us/a/img835/461/akusrobotsxseries.jpg

Some time afterwards, however, the Evil Scientists developed a new type of combat robot and the X series was phased out of service, except for X-9 (previously described) who retired along with his dog, Lulu.

These new combat robots were the...

Beetle Drones

http://imageshack.us/a/img513/2809/beetlesappeareance.jpg

The Beetle Drones are the basic infantry of Aku's modern robot army.

Though completely lacking in ranged attacks, these seven feet robots are rather dangerous in close quarters combat thanks to their four scythe-arms, can crawl quite fast when running on all six limbs and, at least some units, have wings that allow them to fly.

http://imageshack.us/a/img221/575/beetlesflight.jpg

Moreover, the beetle drones can be attached to ground vehicles designed for such a purpose, giving them the potential for swift deployment.

http://imageshack.us/a/img51/5646/beetlesdeployment.jpg

Overall, in terms of combat capability, these things aren't exactly impressive and much lacking in flexibility. However, even though Samurai Jack may in some episodes take down these things by the thousands, they have shown enough durability in a couple instances to prove that they could be genuinely dangerous against enemies without high yield weaponry.

AKU'S ROBOT ARMY (II) - Other robots

Though the Beetle Drones were by far the robots we saw the most often, Aku's evil scientists (and enslaved non-evil scientists) have created some other robots for the shogun of sorrow.

Arab Robots

Hulking, four armed robots that wear stereotypical Arabian garb. Appeared briefly in Jack and the Warrior Woman (S1E6) and Jack in Egypt (S3E5). They can talk (unlike Beetle Drones) and appear to be somewhat more intelligent. Their only weapons are the scimitars they wield and their perfomance is not particularly superior to the Beetle Drones.

http://imageshack.us/a/img407/2916/arabdroid.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img21/8307/arabdroidsize.jpg

Slim Robots

Thin, humanoid robots that appeared only in Samura versus Samurai (S4E3). Mostly armed with knives, though at least one carried an energy weapon that somehow materialized restraints around people. Aku claimed that these robots were his most powerful and advanced assassins to date, but the fact that Jack destroyed hundreds of them with a bamboo stick suggests that the claim doesn't hold water. These things underperformed in comparison to the beetle drones and that takes quite some doing.

http://imageshack.us/a/img716/2860/a...sslimdroid.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img716/2860/akusrobotsslimdroid.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img820/4894/a...mdroidbamb.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img820/4894/akusrobotsslimdroidbamb.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img211/2143/a...mdroidener.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img211/2143/akusrobotsslimdroidener.jpg')

Nevertheless, their scrap showed the interesting ability to reform into a giant robot. Not a very impressive giant robot (with a single non-lethal energy attack and limited to crawling around), but a step up from predecessors all the same.

http://imageshack.us/a/img716/7973/a...ntslimoene.jpg ('http://imageshack.us/a/img716/7973/akusrobotsgiantslimoene.jpg')
http://imageshack.us/a/img266/233/akusrobotsgiantslimorob.jpg

Mantis Robot

Seen only in Jack in Space (S1E5), these droids appear to be the heavy weapons platforms of Aku's horde with two autocannons, one double-barreled machine-gun and a number of rockets built into their frame.

Though their destructive capacity appars to be far greater than their durability, they are also more intelligent than the beetle drones and, in case of encountering strong resistance, their heads can rocket away to Aku's HQ to summon reinforcements.

Tick Robot

Also from Jack in Space, these dog-sized drones are part of Aku's space forces. They are capable of flying through space and they can drill through the hull of spaceships, but little else.

Mosquito Robot

From Jack in Space, same as the above. These mechanical insects can pierce the hulls of spaceships with their spear like proboscis and suck out their fuel reserves. In direct combat, they are limited to trying to stab their opponents.

Wasp Robot

The final type of combat robot seen in Jack in Space and the most impressive example of Aku's known aerospace forces.

Individually, the wasp drones can fire over half a dozen guided missiles of modest yield, but if this amount of firepower proves inadequate to take down an opponent several dozen robots can fuse to form a giant energy cannon and fire an energy beam of high destructive power.

In the episode, Jack was able to block and reflect the energy beam with his sword. This resulted in the destruction of the energy canon and a truly enormous explosion that propelled the samurai towards Earth's surface from outer space.

Bleeeeeh that ending sucked. Really everything after they shoehorned in the romance was pretty meh. Especially after the future we saw years ago in Jack and the Travelling Creatures, this finale was disappointing. The last few episodes felt like they were just ticking off boxes with no real soul. The romance bugs me the most though, it's a drastic shift in gears after they set Jack up as a mentor (honestly, I was sort of figuring Jack might bite it and pass the sword to Ashi). They try to race through this relationship arc in the space of like half an episode and then OH NO AKU IS CONTROLLING HER. Her death in the end is so by-the-numbers that the only thing it succeeds in is sucking the last bit of soul out of a character I was pretty hopeful for in the beginning.

Really bugs me that he ends up going back in time and killing Aku too, 'cause if they were still gonna have him go back in time, god why not give us awesome grey old Emperor Jack?

More episodes could've gone a long way in helping flush out the story, and probably give us a more satisfying conclusion to the story. They just had to much crap to pack into ten half-hour episodes, and really give a satisfying conclusion.
