    spoilers:
What if this is a time displaced Jor-El from BEFORE he decided to send baby Kal to earth. Like he's yanked from time right before he sends the rocket to some other inhabited planet besides earth, maybe a kryptonian colony, doctor manhatten yanks him from out of time and into the future. And he finds out his son ended up on a planet of a bunch of evolved monkeys. So he's all bitter and kidnap-y for a while. until he finally confronts with Superman, meets his half human grandson, eats his first baconator, and has a character arc where he decides humans aren't so bad. Somehow gets sent back to krypton's final day, and decides to send the rocket's coordinates to earth. And everything comes full circle

Well, we don't really know how much of Mr. Oz and his motivation has been changed since his 1st apparition. He was created in a story about Clark's "loneliness" and more than a year later he was readjusted to tie to the 2 Superman mystery, Dr. Manhattan and now he has to deal with an entirely different Superman.

His change of personality could be a result of these things above.

Since it's very likely that we now know who Oz is, I wonder if this issue will also reveal who it was that Oz was speaking to Johns' Superman run.

Bogdanovic's art does nothing for me, except remind me of Capullo's art, which I also loathe. We have Jack Herbert, a guy who's channeling Jerry Ordway and instead, we're stuck with this. I'd rather see Bogdanovic on Super Sons if he has to do a Super title.
Spurious versions, fundamentally wrongheaded premises, can, and often do, prevail from time to time, but eventually the character, Superman himself, Tulpa Superman, will–somehow, somehow–resist and reverse that meddling, reconstituting himself in the world as he means to be. ~Alvin Schwartz (paraphrased by Tom deHaven)

As for John, I actually like that he looks a little bit older here. As much as I love John as a whole, I always felt weird having a 10-yo kid displaying traits and aptitude of a 14-15s yo
    Same with Damian
But it's just a nitpick of mine hehe

The Preview is great, and I am looking forwars to Oz' Endgame !
Given Oz telling Metallo that he "won't use remnants from his [Kal-El's] world against him [Kal-El] again," I doubt he's Jor-El. Given his protectiveness toward Kal-El and his family, I'd be more inclined to guess a future Jon Samuel Kent, or even a time-displaced Jonathan "Pa" Kent. We'll find out soon enough.

I really don't see the hype with Bogdanovic's art. Kinda ugly to me. Way too cartoony and everyone's face is so round and fat.
Jack Herbert is amazing. Never heard of him before Action comics but his art is beautiful. I wish they would have him on Superman or any book for that matter. I would definitely pick that up.

It seemed like a few years ago everyone was complaining about the art being too realistic now we're complaining that it's too cartoony. The previous Supergirl artist was catching flack for the same thing.

Although I certainly wouldn't say no to Prime Jerry Ordway or Ross Andru drawing Superman on the reg.

Agreed!! I don't mind Bogdanovic's art, really - I agree it'd be great for Super-Sons - but Jack Herbert is AMAZING. That man is the perfect one-two punch with Jurgens, imo. It's like looking at modern art from early Post-Crisis. Just incredible.

To me there's a happy medium: Immonen is a bit far on the realistic side, and Bogdanovic is a bit far on the cartoony. I can enjoy both of them, they're great artists. It's just a matter of what I'd like on Action Comics - or, more specifically, complimenting Jurgens's writing.

I like Bog's art well enough. Its not one of my favorite styles, I tend to lean toward preferring more realistic looks too, but it doesn't jar me. If anything bothers me its the odd scratchy/scrawly style around the yes. The pencils and/or ink aren't sharply defined here. I don't really get that and don't really care for it; it doesn't appear to be present in the New Super Man work.

They can be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you. My only son. - Jor-El.

It's all just art to me. I never got the impression that cartoons could look "too much like a cartoon." If the artist is giving as good as they can give, I'm fine.

I wonder. Could it be that jor el has kidnapped a time displaced Jonathan and has hypnotised him to believe that he is oz? That would probably stop superman in his tracks to see Jonathan acting this way not to mention confuse the hell out of him. Maybe jor el would use him to propagate the illusion that Clark's adopted father was a hypocrite and actually a alien hiding on earth and basically his whole life is a sham and a delusion. Then maybe Superman would snap him our of his delusion at which point he is forced to reveal himself and take a active part. it may end with Jonathan sacrificing himself to save Clark or his grandson from his other grand father to stop him from joining him or something and superman will have to stop jor el in the end. That may be why he is so shattered at the end of oz act as his father is responsible for him losing Jonathan once again not to mention his sadness at keeping him prisoner in the phantom zone to stop his crusade to turn earth into krypton or whatever his end goal might be.

Yes it is, maybe cause he was supposed to be someone else at the begining and only recently they changed his personality and purposes.
And I really can't understand why Mr.Oz had to kidnap Tim Drake, a real sensless mystery.

I get that, but there's a difference between, say, "Street Fighter II: The Movie" and "Spongebob". Not that both aren't cartoons, but both use art styles that speak to their respective story style. It's not that it's as good as Bogdanovic can give, just that his particular style, imo, doesn't quite fit the thrust of the writing for me.. if that makes any sense.
