    Default Logo Consistency

Can anyone think of any other logos that have remained as consistent as these?

SUPERMAN & ACTION COMICS have barely changed in almost 80 years.

And while it's had a few changes through the years, the FLASH logo has been really thematically consistent throughout.

I think the logo aspect is severely underappreciated as part of a character's publication history. I dug it when the New 52 took a few out of retirement.

OK so I thought I'd show the evolution of the FLASH logo. There actually have been a couple attempts at change but they've always reverted back to type.

Then for the first time we lean in the OTHER DIRECTION.

Then...I don't even know what to say about this. I don't think I've ever seen it before. Suffice it to say it didn't last long.

And this is where we are today. (Not really a fan myself.)

ADVENTURE COMICS, although it had a different logo when it started out as NEW COMICS, got a logo that was very similar to ACTION COMICS--in fact, DETECTIVE and ACTION copied from that (the difference with ACTION was it was all upper case lettering). Then in 1949 they gave ADVENTURE the cursive font and that stuck with the logo for most of its existence, except for a period of time with the Dollar Comics and the Digest Comics. But every time ADVENTURE returns it gets the classic cursive font logo.

Starting with the 1940 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR COMICS followed by WORLD'S BEST COMICS and then the long running WORLD'S FINEST COMICS, that logo design was almost exactly the same for most of the run.

A point I always liked about DC's old logos is the use of the same font for the word "COMICS" on many series. You can see it on Flash Comics and Action Comics above. I think it served to unify much of the line with a simple quality.

I always thought that was cool, too.

ACTION, ADVENTURE, ALL-AMERICAN, DETECTIVE, FLASH, LEADING, MORE FUN, REAL FACT and STAR SPANGLED all used the same font for "COMICS." While SENSATION used it briefly later in its run--and ALL-STAR later on in its run, as well--but WORLD'S FINEST never.

And BOY COMMANDOS used a similar version of the font for its logo.

IIRC, that was for one specific arc when an alternative universe Wally West took over the title for a while, so it doesn't really count IMO.
