    So Diana should have powers from Zeus...which we haven't seen?

    If being the child of Zeus gives you flight and super-strength and some other random nonsense (Tsunamis? Really?) then why doesn't Diana have some unique 'Zeus' power.

    Why did the Patrons need to give her anything if, just by virtue of being born of Zeus, you get awesome powers?

    Nonsensical.

    Uh, yeah.

    It's enough to make someone think "Did DC really go to all that trouble to just not actually have a plan at all?"

    She could have been using those powers right from the beginning and the Patrons actually did nothing but enlighten her about their presence. Like I said, we only have Diana's claim they gave her powers, we dont actually see them do anything and because Rucka made them completely mute we have nothing about their actual motives.

    Being able, as one of like 3 people, to use Zeus' thunderbolts.

    Because everyone would actually like for Diana to remain alive for as long as possible, and if a bunch of gods show up and pretend to bless her with power, then Hera wont be looking too closely at where they are really from.

    And your alternative is that Diana, as the daughter of Zeus, was born completely normal with nothing but her Amazon skills going for her, which is preposterous when you consider every single child of Zeus have somekind of power in comics.

    That's a bit of acrobatics to fill in this explanation, and it wouldn't be too bad to try and stretch it if it weren't just a year ago that this happened.

    And it's not *my* alternative; it's what Robinson just showed us. Every sibling but Diana has natural Zeus-born abilities, but as clearly shown in Rucka's version (unless Diana is lying, which is not a rational/reasonable explanation), Diana was given her gifts from all of the gods.

    The problem here is DC editorial not wanting to just settle on one explanation and letting multiple writers deal with her origin.

    It's just very sloppy writing/editing on DC's part.

    It is a stretch, but unfortunately Rucka didn't bother filling that void he created about this subject when he jettisoned much of Azzarello's run. Fact is Diana is still Zeus' daughter, but right now we dont exactly know how, when or where she found out about it.

    No, according to Rucka, a bunch of animals showed up and told Diana she had powers, thats literally all we know for certain. Also if you are looking for something special... not all Zeus' kids had that, Hercules' only superpower was his strength. And I am not saying Diana is lying, I am saying Diana was lied to, she didn't know any better before years later.

    Right now it's pretty clear the Zeus-born origins is the one thats the real one, and whatever Rucka might have otherwise wanted (but didn't deal with) in his run is irrelevant. The clay birth did not come back.

    But whose fault is it really? Is it Rucka for not giving us the complete package? Is it DC for wanting to maintain cohesiveness with both the movie and the wider DCU? Or is it really the readers who may have assumed too much regarding things they didn't see?

    At the end I thought they wouldn't have gone to the trouble of giving Jason 3 elves just to make him a villain. The art was very distracting, I started counting the various mighty morphing tiaras and Diana's face looked different from page to page. Jason's tsunami power was underwhelming, hopefully there's more to him that, flight and super strength. All in all it wasn't terrible, compared to last issue it was almost Eisner worthy.

    It's quite possible they activated or elevated her powers when they gave her gifts. Jason mentions that he's not as strong as she is.

    Thats possible. But on the other hand it could be down to Diana being a trained warrior and Jason is a fisherman.
    Not to mention that even twins born of Zeus do not come with duplicate powers... like Artemis and Apollo for example.

    I have a feeling along with the whole Zan/Jayna "Wonder Twin" Parallels Form/Power over Water and Animals, we are going to get a bit of Masters of the Universe with the twins.

    Diana = Adam/He-Man
    Jason = Adora/She-Ra
    Darkseid = Hordak
    Grail = Shadow Weaver.

    So, we can expect Diana to strike this pose in the near future?

    OK so in less than two months we see yet another male related to Diana who HATES her. Enough.

    That's not what took place in WONDER WOMAN 6: the "Patrons" including Hera, mind you, visited Diana and "gave [Diana] gifts."

    What you state as something "literally we all know for certain," i.e., "a bunch of animals showed up and told Diana she had powers" is completely unsupported by the text and art of Rucka and Scott, respectively.

    Yeah, thats not what happened. They appear in one frame and the next she has power and says the patrons gave them to her.

    Even if this is true it just seems like adding unnecessary layers that make the character even harder to understand IMO. This was unnecessarily sloppy given its been a year since rebirth and they did this to hammer out details that was missed in the new52.... the last part isnt directed at you but just me talking generally.
