I agree completely. Until the Harras run she was a reserve member only. In all honesty, until Scarlett's appearance in IM2 NOBODY thought of BW as an iconic Avenger. IMO, she isn't and shouldn't be. She's a spy and assassin not a superhero.

Black Panther, Quicksilver and Black Widow are arguably the most iconic members in terms of appearances and fan-following. Though there are plenty of others (Wonder Man, She-Hulk, Antman, Falcon etc.) who are right up there. I suppose it depends on your intent.

Wasn't Natasha criticized for her leadership (or lack of it) during the Onslaught quagmire?

    No Logan?

There must be a Wolverine in every book, every poster, every issue of everything!

I would definitely put Luke Cage on any list. He's someone who was added to the Avengers by a writer who liked him, stayed around for years, and became a part of Avengers history even though he moved on to other books. But he was the core of Bendis's run in many ways.

Beast is another example. He was put in the book because Steve Englehart liked him, he stayed around for a while before being moved to the Defenders and then back to the X-Books, but the Avengers will always be an important part of his history and vice versa.

I think doing an era type poster would be fun. It would leave off a lot of people that are considered "core" Avengers, but I think it would capture the "big three" of four eras.

    1. Thor, Iron Man, Wasp
    2. Captain America, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch
    3. Wonder Man, Beast, Hercules
    4. Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Wolverine
    Pull List:

Marvel Comics: Black Panther, Captain America, Falcon, Tales of Suspense, Avengers
DC Comics: Challengers of the Unknown, The Terrifics, Justice League
