Didn't read Gen X when it was originally published, (although saying that I LOVED AoA's Gen Next) but have recently bought all the digital issues.

Never been much of a Jubilee fan but I like the other characters.

Now I can't draw for toffee but I had to stop reading Counter X. Banshee looked like a thug.

I hope Marvel get around to releasing digital issues post #31 someday.

Really hope it's a return of the whole team, bring skin and synch back.

Loved Gen X back in the 90s it felt so right for me at the time being a teenager then, will always love it and enjoying the new book but do miss the originals.

So excited! They're going to be using the original/legacy numbering on it, too. I hope it's included in my Gen X subscription and not some stand-alone special that "doesn't count" for whatever reason.

Here's the article where Gen X and other tie-ins are described:
    http://www.cbr.com/marvel-legacy-numbering-covers/

The other vaguely GenX-related Legacy tie-ins are:

    Jean Grey #8: Psych War
    Cable #150: Newer Mutants

Cable cover includes a peek at Blink (recently seen as a part of New Tian in Secret Warriors) and I believe that's Emma in both the new and old versions of the Jean Grey homage cover.

    Blink Secret Warriors #3 cameo:
    https://postimg.org/image/rjzp9mwar/

Speaking of cameos, Emma's cameo'd all over the place recently as... a significant person in the New Tian hierarchy. I guess I won't spoil it here if you haven't heard already, but chances are, if you've been paying attention to Secret Empire and/or upcoming X-Men news, you've probably seen at least one reference to it by now.

Her most notable cameo comes in Secret Empire: United #1, shown and/or described at these links:

    http://zeddfrost.tumblr.com/post/161...mpire-united-1
    http://www.cbr.com/secret-empire-xmen-relevant/
    http://www.cbr.com/the-15-most-wtf-m...empire-so-far/

She's also been spotted in SE #5, CA:Steve Rogers #18, and will be seen in X-Men Blue from about #7 to #9.

Link discussing Emma Frost in X-Men Blue:

I'm thinking that they HAVE TO bring back the '90s team, if only for that one issue, including the deadites. Christina Strain hit "Like" on it when I tweeted that I hoped we'd see the original team, so... there's social media hope, I guess? ;P

I hope you've enjoyed your digital purchases! Sad to say, but Counter X is pretty terrible compared to the original Gen X issues! I also hope they release the rest of the original Gen X digitally some day. Not as good as a new Generation X Classic TPB would be, but at least new fans would be able to discover the whole series easily.

    ===============

Switching gears to the new Generation X...

This is the Gen X #3 preview; sadly, #4 won't be available till July 12th... maybe then we'll actually see the new Emplate:
    http://www.cbr.com/generation-x-3/

Also, Marvel offered every ResurreXion first issue title for free recently! I hope everyone who was interested picked it up and we got some new fans out of it:
    http://www.cbr.com/marvel-resurrxion-free-comics/

We'll need those new fans, taking a look at Generation X sales:
    http://comichron.com/monthlycomicssa...7/2017-05.html

    32 37 Generation X 1 $3.99 Marvel 45,028
    80 81 Generation X 2 $3.99 Marvel 30,396

That's a change of -14,632 from issue #1 to #2, which actually isn't as bad as Jean Grey:

    13 11 Jean Grey 1 $3.99 Marvel 70,702
    84 87 Jean Grey 2 $3.99 Marvel 29,349

    Change: -41,353

That one seems to be an anomaly, though, as both XMBlue and XMGold hovered around 45k and 55k for their #3 and #4 issues. Weapon X was 37k for its #3 issue.

Still, anyone rooting for this series will have to hope it stays around 30k... don't want to drop into the 20ks... 15k-20k is cancellation range for sure. O.o

My favourite thing about original Gen X (naked Banshee notwithstanding - stop it!) was AoA Gen Next but a close second is the Underground Special, which I just bought on paper, as digital isn't an option.
It's great! So inventive. Love the artwork.

^the Underground special is great! its so wonderfully 90's too.

really hope that OG Gen X issue is the whole gang finally back together even if its a flashback! I love the tribute cover with Monet as Emplate, though Quentin in Chamber's place is just nooooooo!

Hoping for not only the OG team members but also the wards. Artie, Leech, Franklin, Howard the Duck. Thanx but no thanx for Gaia though. Would even like to see Maggot and Blink616 if she is around?

There was naked 18-year-old Jono too, lolz.

It's so unfortunate that the Underground Special isn't available digitally and I've certainly looked around for it. Of course, its rareness certainly helps sell the "underground" aspect of it, hah.

It's a shame because that was one of my favorite specials as a kid (I broke out the colored pencils to fill in the back cover picture, hah). ...The inside pages were fun too, of course! ;D

Yeah, flashback or time travel, hah.

Well, QQ is New Gen X's heavy hitter, like Chamber was for Gen X. ;D

    But yeah, my condolences. :P

Artie and Leech are off exploring the multiverse with the rest of the Future Foundation kids chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic. Franklin's remaking the multiverse with Molecule Man.

I ~think~ Maggot is dead, unless he came back to life at some point... but his maggots certainly wouldn't have. How sad. D: No clue on Gaia and it looks like Howard's graduated to the big leagues.

Sooooo... getting the wards back would be pretty difficult. XD

Unless of course they used that Gen X connection as a way to check in with the wayward Fantastic Four characters, hah.

    ======================

    NEW NEXT WEEK:

    Generation X #4:
    http://www.cbr.com/generation-x-4/

    X-Men Blue #7 - featuring Emma Frost:
    http://www.cbr.com/x-men-blue-7/

What's really great is that Emma's mind controlling and speaking through Xorn at this point, apparently... just like I always thought she did during the Cyclops-Frost leadership period of the X-Men. That apparently was never the case (what? she stood behind him silently in important meetings, what was I supposed to think?? :P), but now "evil villain" Emma is doing it.

Judging by the Marvel Legacy solits that've been coming out, looks like we'll have to wait till at least the October 2017 solits to see what that Generation X #85 business about.

And here are two articles detailing Emma Frost in the Jean Grey title in Marvel Legacy, coming this October:

    http://www.cbr.com/exclusive-hopeles...st-emma-frost/

    http://www.cbr.com/exclusive-jean-gr...cy-emma-frost/

"The Phoenix is coming and in its wake – death and destruction! Destined to become the Earth’s host for the fiery entity, Jean is still not prepared for its arrival and the ensuing battle to come. Her only hope, a former host who can prepare and train her telepathic powers, but what cost is Jean willing to pay when Emma Frost, The White Queen, becomes her only salvation and the last line of defense from the world burning?"

Lastly, this "Top 15 List" article talks about Vampire Jubilee and also mentions the time the stole Penny's name to give it to Bleedball:

    http://www.cbr.com/power-shift-15-he...cally-changed/

    ======================

Gregory Baker over on this Bleeding Cool article did some math:
    https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/06...-books-not-52/

    Generation X 85 = 75 (1) + 6 (2) = 81 (4 short, maybe launching in Dec/Jan?)

The speculation about it actually launching in Dec/Jan doesn't sound good, but I suppose it's better to be patient and get a story that actually fits into the current series well, than a rushed one-off that's ultimately disposable. I'd rather have a story that makes you want to occasionally reread it.

First up, here's a new article about the new Generation X:

    http://www.multiversitycomics.com/ne...-kids-alright/

Second up, Generation X #4 came out today!

Comic books are a visual medium. So even if you've got a great story, no matter how great it is, it can be brought down by subpar art.

And that's what I feel about Generation X #4. I hope y'all enjoyed the issue regardless, though!

If you're curious to know why the art of the most important ResurrXion title turned out the way it did (lol I'm kidding... half-kidding!), there was a fill-in artist for part of the issue; here's a couple of tweets about it:

    https://twitter.com/christinastrain/...88330639446017

    https://twitter.com/therealsobreiro/...66350855397376

I know it's not nice to say not nice things, particularly in an Appreciation thread such as this one, but... just my opinion: The art in the latter part of this issue is like they looked at anyone who complained about the art and said, "You think that's bad? That's nothing! We'll show you just how bad it can get! /evil-laugh"

I know: I'm picky. But that's just 'cos I'm a very visually-oriented person myself & I want only the best Grade A art for my favorite comic Generation X, gosh dang it. Anyhow...

    Here's a tweet about Emma Frost's near-upcoming-future:

    https://twitter.com/MarkPaniccia/sta...80239244505088

    =====_=====_=====_=====_=====_=====_=====_

There's bigger Gen X news in a pair of other titles that were released today:

Doctor Strange and the Sorcerers Supreme #10 (of all series) and X-Men Blue #7.

Fun stuff in each of 'em, particularly X-Men Blue.

I'll start with this page from Doc Strange, though:

And here's one from XMB #7:

    (Mondo?!)

There's more about each of the characters in the issues themselves, but I don't have time to type out a comprehensive summary of which GenXers (and marginally related Gen X characters) appeared each issue today.

Here's an article in which the artist of the Doc Strange issue geeked out about Generation X:
    https://news.marvel.com/comics/64101...me-sketchbook/

I loved this old man Piotr version from the moment I set eyes on his glistening metallic lip liner a few years ago. I think most super heroes should have mustaches.
There's also a tease regarding the issue of Cable for Marvel Legacy with Blink in it:

    THE NEWER MUTANTS!
The time-traveling mutant known as Cable has made it his one-man mission to preserve all of time itself. But when a disturbance in the timestream sends Cable back to the recent past, hell find a mutant killer he wont be able to handle alone. Cables led teams of X-Men before and hell have to turn to some old allies and new friends to stop this deadly threat. Get ready for the newer New Mutants!

Absolutely floored that Mondo appeared. But, then again, he's still being teased with the rest of the OG Gen X team at the beginning of X-Men Blue #1. I just wonder is this the real Mondo or another fake since Cassidy came back also. And that Husk/Chamber kiss brought back Lobdell-Hama feels and made me realize that Strain needs to hurry and fix Paige's "secondary mutation". And BotA Banshee is back doing big things, which makes me wonder how long it'll take for his 616 self to get out of his DS-induced coma.

Also, about Cable plucking different mutants from different time periods, there was only one time I could see Nate pulling Blink. In Abnett, Manning, and Wells' run of New Mutants, I recall a little space where Blink was 'finding herself'. Maybe she gets taken out of the timestream during her solo act. IDK but I sure am glad we've got a plethora of writers who have such a love for Gen X. Wish the same was for the Academy X kids.

wow what a deluge of Gen X goodness!

I had read about the XMB team with Mondo and Marrow in its dedicated thread. So cool to see Mondo and Marrow again! Nice art too!

but how in the hell did you discover those Doc Strange panels!? thats totally a surprise there! a whole faced Jono? Jono & Paige together again! I assume that's some kind of AU?

thanks for posting all the pics too! Too bad about Gen x vol 2 art. I too am a visually oriented type and bad art will really kill a story/book for me. Its a shame that they decided to cop out on the art for this book, b/c Ive read story wise the book seems to be getting better(Im a trade waiter so for now Im following the story mostly from this forum). Lots more of Jono in it than I was expecting!

Out of those 69 posters who voted for Penance, who are huge Penance fans? Starleafgirl, RichSkitzCale and I can't just stay as the only three huge solid forever Penance fans. The Hollow/Penance fanbase need to grow in numbers too.

I am so happy Mondo is making a comeback. New Tian X-Men could totally be the new X-Factor: Mondo, Marrow, Magik, Boom Boom, Rictor, and Wolfsbane.
