The Right Stuff, Return of the Jedi, Trading Places, War Games, To Be Or Not To Be, Krull. Used to say Vacation but I re-watched it recently and man, is there some cringe-worthy racial stuff in there.

    Scarface
    The Dead Zone
    Bad Boys
    Return of the Jedi
    Trading Places
    Cujo
    National Lampoon's Vacation
    Under Fire
    Eureka

    A Christmas Story
    Videodrome
    10 till Midnight
    Octopussy
    Rumble Fish
    King of Comedy

    Honorable mention: The Keep

I'd list Christine, but it literally misses the spirit of King's book, the car's previous owner. The movie is well cast and has some great parts, but...meh.

These threads do a good job of recommending me other films of that year that I have not yet seen. Like Strange Invaders.

King of Comedy was shown in Iceland in 1982, but that apparently is it (wikipedia tells me)....I think this might be a rare case of saying the movie is more 1983 than 1982, more belongs to the year it wasn't technically first released in.

If that's the case King of Comedy tops the list.

Lists aside, one director was behind both Videodrome and The Dead Zone that year.

That one still blows my mind.

Since it came up, the film The Keep was released in eighty-three. While you don't just trip over it everywhere you go, it is worth seeing if you get the chance.

Look at Speilberg in 93. A lot of people give him crap but Schindler's List, an academy movie with performances and all that shit, but also Jurassic Park, an action money machine. Nothing like that will ever be done again.
