Currently I'm enjoying both Blue Exorcist and Black Lagoon on Toonami. I'm also watching Hellsing, A Certain Magical Index and Texhnolyze on the FUNimation Channel.

Five episode in and I must say, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders might be my favorite anime of all time

    I've enjoyed these:

    Akira
    Paprika
    Spirited Away
Ghost in the Shell (didn't care for GITS tbh)
    Neon Genesis Evangelion
    Cowboy Bebop
    FMA
    Psycho Pass

Currently watching Hunter x Hunter, pretty fun and kind of feels like a more "mature" version of Dragon Ball

My overall fave anime are probably the first season of Eat-Man and the movie Terra E/Towards the Terra.

Eat-Man was one of the first midnight anime, after the afternoon/evening got more regulated in the late 90s, and the showrunner was doing great things with pacing and symbolism right up front and not as, as is more often, gilt. Its refusal to come out and vocally say things that both audience and characters can already intuit gets pushed to an almost impish level, but it really does draw the line in the sand. Ethical conflicts were resolved obliquely, plots and social/political actions were addressed glibly or with brechtian avoidance, but raw symbols and resonances were loud and dominant.

Towards the Terra is a gorgeous movie, fluid, rich animation, great acting, and enough high intensity melodramatic scenes for a season of world-changing soap opera.

As for recent stuff, last season, Golden Age really got my attention. Fairly retro in look and style, it follows an amnesiac guy attending college and trying to carve out a new life for himself. It can shift from funny and light to moody and terrifying remarkably smoothly, and was one of the better TV programs I've seen in recent years, anywhere.

Kill la Kill was the big thing, lately, but for me, it never escaped the sum of its parts. I like some of Kill la Kill, but the bits that bugged me kept me too distanced from it for there to ever be any true love.

    I liked Sanageyama.

I was sad he didn't get more screen time because his episode was one of the best in the show.

I'm not really an anime person, but out of the blue I did watch Madoka. I liked how it looked and once I started watching it I couldn't stop.

I did watch Digimon recently on Netflix, but its not a true anime.

    Also Avatar is anime.

How come these anonymous sources failed to report Zack Snyder had left post-production on Justice League? They seem to know everything now...

Ive been thinking about it and I have heard good things.

Surprised I got you 'fighting' at my Digimon comment though. My 'Avatar is Anime' bit usually gets people certain anime people upset because apparently unless its made in Japan...

Then maybe the thread should be renamed to Anime/Animation? For instance, Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favorite series ever. It was actually commissioned to a studio in South Korea.

    I'm being a little coy. It's just this;

When people my age watched Digimon we really didn't distinguish between it and other cartoons (Same for Dragonball, Pokemon). By the time Avatar came around 'anime' was a word used in school for a specific type of cartoon and it became its own sub-culture. Nowadays if you watch Bleach or Naruto you know its from Japan and you probably would consider yourself an anime enthusiast.

As for the Avatar comment there are people who consider it not to be anime purely because it was not made in Japan. Its stupid, but I was testing the waters. You all passed.

Anyway I've also been thinking about Kill la Kill too. I know its suppose to be different, but I don't want to watch a show about girls killing each other.
