Marvel knew exactly what they were doing. This book is now the talk of the town. In a few weeks people will forget about the borderline lewd cover but they will still remember the fact that there is a Spider-Woman comic out there.

I don't understand this new drive towards 1950s censorship and propaganda. I agree with Milo and his Western European mindset.

Same here. He's right, people need to worry about things that are actually worth worrying about...

Maybe something is lost in translation cause that was some serious problematic sexist, racist outdated thinking.

People can care about more than one issue at a time. All he was doing was deflecting and trying to diminish the critics voices.

Genuinely don't understand what the problem is here. He's drawn a nice picture of Spider-Woman. Why is that wrong?

One or two of the things he said came off as a bit strange (or strangely phrased/inapplicable) to me. Perhaps it is the different culture or age. But overall, I tend to agree with this general feeling.

Kurt Angle: "Rey Mysterio, I want you to remember one thing: you're a boy in a man's world, and I'm a man that loves to play with boys! No, no, no! Wait a minute! Shut up! What I meant to say is: you're a boy and I'm a man, and tonight I'm gonna love to manhandle you! No! Hold on a second! Shut up! Rey Mysterio, you remember this, pal, you're a boy and I'm a man, and when you and I get together here tonight, I'm gonna get on top of you and no, no! Dammit!"

Interesting comments: If you don't like this, you must want women in burqas. I don't think he got what the criticism was about.

Oh please spare us the "50's propaganda" nonsense. That's is the most ridiculous strawman argument that I've heard in awhile. No one is saying that sexy women are bad, or that sexy women in comics are a problem. But there's a time and a place for it. You want to do and issue where Jessica goes to the beach and wears a bikini, fine I've got no problem with that. But this is a cover that's supposed to sell her as an awesome heroine who is ready to fight crime, and she looks like she should be starring in a porno. Time, place, context, that's what's important. The fact that some people here try to make the "if you've got a problem with this, then you're a prude who hates the female body and supports censorship" with a straight face shows that they never had much of a legitimate defense in the first place. Trying to insinuate that there's something wrong with people who don't like this doesn't help your credibility. Oh and Mr. Manara, you're a COMIC BOOK ARTIST, doing a COMIC BOOK COVER. Of course COMIC BOOK FANS are going to comment on it, and your pitiful attempts to dodge the issue by bringing up issues that have NOTHING to do with this one doesn't change that. People can care about the world's problems, and also comment on your crappy cover. It's not a zero sum game.

I don't even see what the big deal is.

    She's just a comic character.

If people are upset by this then they should be just upset by a front view of Spider-Woman.

Her costume is skin tight and so are a lot of other characters, including male characters.

I think people should just chill and enjoy the stories to escape reality for a brief time and move on with their lives.

Such a thing as this shouldn't be a big deal.

I don't get why THIS is getting complaints as it doesn't seem that bad, when Greg Land gets constant complaints on his work and he's still hired by Marvel ?

You don't have too look very far in comics to find other covers similar to this. I don't see the big deal.

    But I will say this...

After seeing this cover so many times, maybe I am seeing things. Look at Spider-Woman's back and butt. Now ignore the butt cheeks. It... kinda looks like something subliminal was dropped there.

Count me on the side that doesn't get what all the fuss is about. It's a Manara cover, not a Marvel baby variant. It's a piece of art. It's not robbing a bank or holding someone hostage. If it's not your cup o tea, look away and leave it to the people who do enjoy it.
