To add to skyvolt's post, I have to throw in Charmed. I love the show dearly (*cough* username), but they fucked over Daryl sooooo many times, I'm surprised a demon didn't come along and offer him revenge against the sisters. He did give them a big "f you" in the sixth season once he was almost executed, thanks to them.
Also, I know it was discussed a couple of pages ago, there's one thing about the Death Note adaptation, and pretty much every American adaptation of a Japanese (or any foreign) work of fiction: why is it always someone white? I know the reasons, of course, and while the studios would never admit that, can they even fall back on the "We went for someone with name recognition" because Nat Wolff [while I had a mega, slightly embarrassing crush on him in hindsight] isn't that famous. Couldn't they have still set in America, but with a character of Japanese descent? [That's what Big Hero 6 did, right?]
I feel like I'm going in circles, when the decision was quite easy for the people involved: "White guy = $$$$$$$$$$$"
