The downside is I feel like not every community would craft policy to same, but here's to hoping.

But watch how much the city of Baltimore dishes out in the civil suit
The mayor threw that female attorney under the bus on Fox News. Made it CLEAR she did not hire her-that the attorney was an independently hired by someone else.

Now to the bold-folks have yelled that for YEARS. In states where you can have unions unlike Texas-you are fighting powerful unions. The same unions that guys like Trump want GONE especially in education.

The MAJOR issue is not the unions-it's how do you choose who gets to serve on that committee?

Because not everybody will be on the side you think they should be on.

Appointed by the city council? NO

    Appointed by cops? NO

Appointed by the community? HELL NO

    Election? Once again HELLO NO

Because any choice you choose can be corrupted. And not just by local folks-but folks who don't even live in your city or state.

Yeah, police unions do hold alot of weight but in some areas sheriffs are elected officials, there has to be some broader reform of municipal governments that is viable. The federal government will have to get involved but I just don't think that's likely at this point. People really need to organize and like put their money up to fight lobbies, but I wonder how many people are in it for the long haul

Not only is the NYPD actively blocking reform but:

They won't even allow thier activities to be documented by the press if they can get away with it.

Most likely to draw people into seeing it. Period pieces like this one usually have to have a white guy in it.

Yeah, that movie wouldn't get a cent of American studio money without a known quantity in it.

Its a shame tho. Damon's role looks to be the kind of costume drama showpiece that guys like Jet Li or Chow Yun Fat used to automatically get.

Even Jackie could have done this playing it straight (as long as there was no stunts involved).

There's this weird narrative out there that Ghostbusters is a huge flop by some anti-female Ghostbusters folks, but the movie opened at like 50 mil! That's not a flop!

By all accounts it was just an average movie that did well enough at the box office to earn a sequel.

    That's all.

Everybody needs to calm the @#$% down.

Nobody got this upset when they remade Total Recall as a PG-13 movie and that is more of an affront to the original
version than anything that the NuBusters did.

That goes double for RoboCop by the way.

They took all the juice out of 2 of the 80's coolest dystopian S-F action flicks and nobody says a word.

But touching Ghostbusters is beyond the pale?

Never mind that the Ghostbusters Dark/Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon did all the stuff the haters are complaing about over 10 years ago. But there already WAS
a mediocre Ghostbusters 2. What do the haters think Ghostbusters 3 would have been like?

    Especially WITHOUT Harold Ramis?

You're looking at Blue Brothers 2000 all over again (but without the singing).

@#$%, that thing would have been lucky to be as good as Blues Brothers 2000 was.

It's a sequel to a movie that bombed and I personally didn't think was all that good either.

But Disney owns the film rights to Rocketeer, so if they want a POC female heroine without having to create something new
(and having to PAY that creator) it's off to the vaults they go.

Ghostbusters 3 was technically the video game from a couple years ago, had the original cast and a new story

It was wrong but the best comment I saw was, "strapping a rocket to your back is the crazy shit only white people do"

Makes me wonder what else they're going to dust off. They're doing a Mary Poppins sequel, Pete's Dragon comes out next month, there are only so many fairy tales and princesses left to mine.
