Default The more the merrier, or too much of a good thing? Thoughts on revisiting stories for Convergence

Just read the CBR interview with DiDio, in which Red Son and Kingdom Come are specifically mentioned by the interviewer as stories that get revisited in "Convergence." What's your take on expanding on certain self-contained stories such as these?

I have no issue with it generally, but I also think some self-contained stories like Red Son or Kingdom Come work in part because they get to stand on their own and have an ending. Bringing elements and concepts back again and again, or folding those ideas into the main continuity, can serve to water down the qualities that made those Elseworlds work in the first place.

It *can* be done well and enrich the larger DCU. However, it seems to me that more often, the results are a pale imitation.

I'm looking forward to all aspects of the Multiverse I can get.

I'd love to read a "Super-Verse" story utilizing all of the different versions of Superman. A story like that would be a better fit for him than Spider-Man.

The more the merrier as long as the plan isn't trying to force these characters into the actual New 52 verse. Do that and I'd have a huge problem. Keep them as completely separate continuities able to be revisited from time to time, and I'm all for it. I wouldn't be surprised though if particularly bleak continuities like Red Son, Flashpoint and what not, are around just to specifically be destroyed within the pages of Convergence.
