    Very intriguing if true.

Why she couldn't be Clea, I'm not sure, but I'm not wholly opposed to this casting.

Knowing some of the roles she's done previously, she may not even play it gendered in either direction, but just as a mystical being.

Tilda Swinton in a Doctor Strange movie seems weirdly and incredibly perfect to me.

    This.

That she looks as ageless as she does makes it even more interesting - a being that's not defined by man's limited notions of reality.

    A tired Asian stereotype, yes.

And this is probably what they're trying to avoid.

Remember when they were reportedly looking at Bill Nighy, Morgan Freeman, and Ken Watanabe? And how those seemed perfectly fine, but didn't have that Marvel, "never would have thought of it, but totally inspired" feel?

THIS! Holy Hoggoth! Granted, Tilda Swinton would be amazing as anyone from Strange himself to Starlord's Mystery Dad, but man. What a get if she signs on!

Funny how nobody seemed to take issue with these guys playing The Ancient One (again traditionally Asian).

I'm very intrigued to see fan reaction about this.

Ha! I misread this at first. Thought you'd said 'Isn't the Ancient One Aslan?'. Now there's an interesting crossover waiting to happen.

As for the news... Tilda is spot on casting for this movie Imo. She was even amazing in Constantine! (Imo..... Though the other lead casting in that movie obviously sucked!). She is just... Brilliant.

She's too old for a principal love interest/female lead especially if Dr. Strange is successful enough to warrant a franchise...

    Madness.

Besides, she has an otherworldly quality that one would expect of a denizen of another dimension.

I wouldn't cast her for Umar though.

Ha! Scott Derrickson is a noted christian director of secular films.... but he didn't slip any C.S. Lewisism into Sinister so far as I can tell, so that wardrobe may yet remain unexplored by Agamotto's far seeing eye.
