Kudos to Brett for putting into words what I've felt for years. I was born and raised in Mississippi, and I love my home, but the ugly depiction of the American South in pop culture always strikes a nerve with me because I know that it's rooted in a host of unfortuntate truths.

I read the first two issues and did not like it. I heard so many good things about SB but it was just blah. Walking Tall in the deep south. Why are people so against superhero titles these days lol

Great article Brett! You nailed the experience. I almost picked the two issues up while at my shop, yesterday. I am grabbing them on the way home, today... gotta see what's what, and check out Aaron and Latour's letters.

    Thanks!

I really enjoyed these first two issues, and also enjoyed your piece. it's great to see these different perspectives, especially since I am NOT from the South.

I'm from the middle TN area and I just don't give a damn what stereotypes people assign to southerners. Some maybe accurate for a part of the population but certainly not all us.
