If that blast from BvS isn't from her bracelets and is suppose to be her power, why would she need to smash her bracelets together?

It's possible that she doesn't need to. She just likes doing it because it "feels right" to her.

It's also possible that the bracelets just help her focus the blast better. Or maybe, like her bracelets in the Azz run, it helps her regulate her power so that she doesn't level whole city blocks with that power if she doesn't want to.

We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

You bring up good points. The bracelets controlling her power seem to making a comeback..

Bingo! James Gunn used it to show support for Patty Jenkins when the fake letter was published by a supposed former Warner Bros. employee. It noted internally everyone knew Wonder Woman was a train wreck. It appeared many extremely favoring the MCU were cheering this on, and Gunn was calling out the silliness of it all.

So a very positive action on his part. Though there are always going to be those to find a cause for pre-made picket signs they have ready to go.

Sure, it's great that Gunn would show support for Patty and her movie. His "Cow-exist" comment was great, too.

But, aren't you being a bit "picket sign" negative nancy yourself here? I mean, the comment about "Coexist" being male was a joke. And, a joke with a valid point. This isn't a knock at all on Gunn, but a real issue in Hollywood that particularly stands out at the height of the superhero movie boom and it's still extremely straight, white, male centric.

'Negative Nancy'? Not really. Who the heck fixates on such things other than someone that looks for these things? To take something meant to be positive, and twist it into something like that shows a disconnect.

If it was a valid point, wouldn't they have first took a moment to step back - consider the symbols and the history of the many characters - and realized diversity is baked into some of these already? Unless someone wants to be a Negative Nero or Nancy.

Four posts in a row of you complaining, but that's not negative?

And, speaking of stepping back and considering, doesn't she have a valid point? Aren't Hollywood superhero movies dominated by straight, white, males?

There is no "some" to your point, there is one: the X-Men. But, even there, look at their movies and try to make a good case that they aren't dominated by straight, males? Does Storm have a solo movie? Did she even get to be the leader of the team as she has been in the comics? And how many other non-whites get to be anything more than a cameo?

Even taken as support for the WW movie, neither the "Coexist" sign, nor Gunn, bother to mention the existence of WW until AFTER Jenkins points out the lack of a sign for WW.

I am sure there was no sexism intended by the absence of WW, but even unintended exclusion is still exclusion.

Simply put, this is not a case of someone looking for a negative that isn't there. This is a case of a very real negative that exists, commented on as a cheeky joke.

Okay. You have my full attention now.

So you think it is a good thing James Gunn posted something in support of a female director - making a female-led comic book movie - where people were purposely trying to sabotage its future by posting and making up lies about it - it gets posted here to bring positive feelings about this movie - and two people jump on the negative to the message? You don't see a problem with that?

-Spider-Man symbol: Now represents not only a white male, but also a black male and a white female as a minimum. But it also represents an entire universe of diversity.
-X-Men symbol: Not only does this represent the historic X-Men, but also X-Force, New Mutants (very closely tied to this universe), and many other titles and characters. So females and males of extensive ages and races.

Trying to then fall back on, "Well, if James Gunn was really trying to support a female director of a female comic book movie, he would have done X, Y and Z" sounds like just more complaining, which detracts from the positive he publicly was bringing to the table. Setting studio competition aside, along with creative differences.

Now we have wasted more time trying to find an excuse to see the negative with this expression, burying the original post so people can wonder, "What's up with all this negative posting?" That's not a win for this forum, or the hobby.

Is this a good time to point out that James Gunn didn't even create this sign? Google search "Coexist sticker DC Marvel" and you'll find this very same sticker. He even said in his first tweet "Whoever did this was awesome."

The dude just grabbed a random Coexist sticker image and posted it. People are reading WAY too much into this.

You still haven't addressed the very basic question: are Hollywood superhero movies not dominated by shtriaght, white, men?

I see a problem in ignoring ugly realities just so you gave have a feel good 1/2 full dream.

And, I see a problem in you trying to twist a joke with a valid point into character assasination. "What type of person does this?"

I never said he made the image. He posted the image. He even says it in his post, as you noted.

That coexist symbol was so cool, and says so much.

So in a Wonder Woman movie thread where James Gunn showed support for Patty Jenkins and a female-led film, if we don't call out the extremely poor conduct of Hollywood in how it has handled females and minorities - then we just cannot have positive to a post? Should there be a statement below the tweet from me stating 'DISCLAIMER: Although this is very positive support for a female director and a female-led film, let's not forget how Hollywood has disrespected others over the years. Enjoy!' to ensure this gets called out?

I know I am being snarky with that last statement. But come on! A movie that has had more people picking at it and putting undue pressure to be a smash hit in representing the entire hope of the DCEU or it was trash, and a respected creator brings his support from a totally different studio. We couldn't allow for a period of time to have positive today? If that works for you, then shine on. Meanwhile - again - the positive intent and message gets buried because we have to call out the whole of Hollywood for its horrible handling of genders and races.

Now - are we allowed to going back to the Wonder Woman and Gal Gadot discussion? Because all this back-and-forth could have ended a few posts back. But some had to get their say in - which is what carried this forward.

Yes, I agree with KilllerCroc. Can we please just stick to the movie discussion? Thanks.

You do realize that you calling out Gaelforce's joke for being "negative" is what started it right? And you do realize that you just posted three times in a row which is actually what carried this forward? I mean, it doesn't matter because the mods are going to delete all these comments, but sheesh.
