The readers of marvel comics got to read about the comicbook character Mar-Vell again this year courtesy of Margie Stohl Stohl was killing it!
After defeating the supervillain Fred in the Negative Zone, the comicbook character Mar-Vell was unable to fly on his own.
Enter the comicbook character Carl who's stamina surpasses Mar-Vell's taking Marv in his arms and flies away with him.
Terrific display of brothers-in-arms looking out for one another

The conversation between the comicbook characters Carl and Mar-Vell was great BUT when Marv was about to learn of the transitioning of Carol Danvers into Carl Manvers, Carl popped away!
Regardless, it was a magnificent tale Although it would have been nice to have included a sequence where the comicbook character Carl Manvers goes Non Binary

Talking Happy 55th Anniversary 616 Richard Milhouse "Rick" Jones!!! 1962-2017

    Incredible Hulk #1 May 1962
The first appearance of Rick Jones in "The Coming of the Hulk"
It's the height of the Cold War and the government is about to test their new Gamma Bomb.
Unfortunately, a carefree and oblivious teenager named Rick Jones wanders out onto the test area.
Dr. Bruce Banner, the creator of the Gamma Bomb, rushes out to warn the young man away.
However, the bomb explodes and as Banner pushes the teenager to safety he is caught in the heart of a Gamma maelstrom.

The gamma-rays that bombard Banner's taunt frame transform his physiology.

Now, whenever Banner becomes angry he transforms into the man-brute known as the Incredible Hulk.

Script by Stan Lee, pencils by Jack Kirby, inks by Paul Reinman.

NOTE: Notice that the Hulk was colored grey for the first few issues of his series.
In an interview, Stan Lee said very simply that the reason for this was that grey was the easiest color for the copiers of the time to print.
When the technology got better the Hulk became green, and according to Stan, for no better reason than they didn't have a green hero in their stable yet.

Uh, I haven't been following things much lately. So Rick Jones married the Grim Reaper--who left him for another woman--then he turned into a black guy--now he's dead? Somebody please bring me up to date.

He didn't marry the Grim Reaper- he married Marlo, who has/had a strange connection with Death (the cosmic entity). She did briefly leave him to romp around the cosmos with Moondragon and explore their mutual feelings for one another, but she came back to Earth and she and Rick reconciled well before the end of Captain Marvel vol. 5 (Peter David's second and concurrent run on CM).

Rick is currently dead, as of the Secret Empire storyline.

I'm not sure what you mean (or where you heard) that he'd "turned into a black guy," though. As 616MarvelYear is LeapYear notes, this was a storyline with Frank Castle at one point in the 90s, and it also happened to Abner "Beetle/Mach-X" Jenkins in Thunderbolts for a time.

(EDIT: Some of the artwork in CM v. 4 and 5 did give Rick a darker skin tone and features that looked different from his usual "white boy with long hair" depictions, so maybe that's the confusion?)

Thanks for clearing that up. It's hard to believe anyone would kill off Rick Jones--that's . . . just . . . MEAN.
