All those suggestions are crap, let's try these:

    Nikolai Coster-Waldau
    Mads Mikkelsen
    Jim Caviesiel
    Gabriel Macht

There's only one man for the job and that's Aidan Gillen. Ok I'm biased cos he's Irish. But I saw him in Dublin last week and though yeah he'd be a a great Stephen Strange.
Oh and of course Big Liam would be great too.

Of those suggested Depp and Cumberbatch are the only ones I think fit the role. My choice would be Depp.

    Peace

I keep thinking I'd like Jason Lee in the role, but can't see it happening.

A big old HELL NO for Cumberbatch and Depp. Literally the most boring, overexposed actors you could choose.

    Give me Rufus Sewell!

Given the state of Depp's career, I'd argue Dr. Strange is the kind of role he needs to avoid if he wants to start rebuilding his artistic credibility.
    Haunting the vast wasteland.

Aiden Gillen would be great and looks the part. Depp, as overly exposed as he is, does look the part like Gillen. My thing with the character of Strange is he is supposed to be a gifted neurosurgeon, so the actor can't be too young as you want someone to be somewhat older and experienced. Jared Leto looks young but the man will be 43 in December! I've always loved Marvel's outside the box casting. Leto could pull it off. I suspect Marvel might have someone ready to go for their big Comic Con panel next month.

Aidan Gillen is great, but I'm not sure if he'd pull off a superhero well.

Johnny Depp was always my choice, but it depends on which Depp is showing up. He's gone from being one of my favorite actors, to being someone I actively avoid watching. I agree with the other poster who said this is the exact type of role he should stay away from. Which is sad, because if he brought his A game, this could be a lot like RDJ's IRON MAN. Also that would most likely mean we'd be stuck with Helena Bonham Carter as his love interest. Bleh.

Liam Neeson is a bad choice for this, and Benedict Cumberbatch is a vastly overrated actor.

I want to see MARVEL do something interesting with DOCTOR STRANGE. None of their films have portrayed real magic yet. THOR is more alien space gods that are also vikings (which is an awesome way to handle those characters). I want to see something wild and imaginative here. No point and shoot energy blast nonsense, something cool.

Had a really nice marriage, but got retconned and now she doesn't even want to get coffee.

    How about Pedro Pascal

Captain, in Order to build a better world, sometimes means tearing the old one down... And that makes enemies.

Considering all the incantations Dr Strange will have to be reciting brings Hugo Weaving's performance in "V for Vendetta" to mind. He'd be great with the right cast.
