Right, though you left out the part as to why Chad was put on the list, or at least one strong possibility why....the Trump admin insisted that every country print out a brand new sample passport that the U.S. could study. Chad, being a poor country, ran out of the special Passport paper needed to print new passports. They tried to explain this to the U.S., but they were still placed on the travel ban list anyway.

Yeah, it's exactly as stupid as it sounds because of course it is.

Because we all know Trump has a long track record of being sympathetic towards the plight of poorer nations and people, right?

On this date in 2014, 2015, as well as 2016, “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day posted profiles of the U.S. House Representative from South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, Trey Gowdy, the U.S. House Representative from South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, a would-be witchfinder general who obsessively looks for conspiracies being carried out by Democrats that never actually manifest, and complains about the media when they have the nerve to report when he's unable to find any wrongdoing. Gowdy was placed in charge of the Benghazi Select Committee in 2014, and in 2016, Gowdy's Benghazi committee finally ended not with the repeatedly promised bang, but a whimper. Before it was all over, he had to concede that all of the reports that concluded nothing could have been done to save the lives of the four Americans killed there could have been saved by any possible intervention, and he and the Republicans on that committee had to begrudgingly release the report to the press that concluded there was no culpability or wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton or the State Department. In addition to the Benghazi Committee/fiasco/waste of taxpayer money that Gowdy has been making himself famous for, he also tried hyping the IRS scandal, calling for Lois Lerner to be held in contempt of Congress for invoking her 5th amendment right to not testify against herself. It was the first time that Congress held someone in contempt for doing that since... wait for it... Joe McCarthy during the Red Scare hearings. Gowdy also expressed his desire to use torture not just against terrorists... but against IRS employees to root out all the crimes they committed, "like Jack Bauer on 24", and tried hyping outrage about the closing of the World War II Memorial during the 2013 shutdown by claiming that special consideration was given to Occupy Wall Street protestors to stay in that park (Zuccotti Park was privately owned, not by the government). During the House Oversight Committee’s witch hunt against Planned Parenthood, Gowdy grilled the organization’s president, Cecile Richards, repeatedly interrupting and badgering her while attributing quotes she had made which she never had said. Rounding out Gowdy's resume is one of the most conservative voting records in Congress, and an hard policy in favor of Voter ID laws that disproportionately curb the ability of minorities to get registered to vote, which he feels "can't be racist" by his logic because sometimes, people in South Carolina elect minorities.

Gowdy’s district is, of course, bright red, so he won re-election in 2016 with 67% of the vote. That’s only the beginning of the bad news. While new House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz abruptly resigned in 2017, it meant a field promotion for Trey Gowdy, who now runs the House Oversight Committee during the Trump administration.

And guess who, in spite of the most blatantly corrupt White House since at least the Reagan administration, if not ever, is all thumbs and unable to find anything worth investigating? TREY F’N GOWDY. Yeah, with the Trump administration colluding with Russians, with the Trump business empire enriching itself off of its presidency, with practically every member of the Trump Cabinet of Horrors abusing private jets on taxpayer expense for personal trips, et cetera, et cetera, Trey Gowdy wants to bury his head in the sand and pretend that everything is JUST FINE. After eight years of playing make believe with the Obama administration, a group of unqualified morons without moral compasses move into the White House, skip out on all their ethics training, and Gowdy is an accessory to all the crap they’re pulling to the extent that he accuses the people who are the “leaks” informing the media of all these scandals of criminal wrongdoing, echoing Donald Trump himself. He’s spending the energy to cast doubt on the Steele Dossier even as the intelligence community keeps confirming that detail after detail in it is accurate. It would be sad if it wasn’t so predictable.

And yeah, wouldn’t you know it, Rep. Gowdy’s legislative record is still as conservative as you’ll find:

    • February 16th, 2017: Gowdy votes for HJR 69, to make it legal for hunters on wildlife reserves to kill several species of hibernating bears or wolves while they’re sleeping. Because… well, the logic really isn’t there as to why, it’s just awful.
    • March 16th, 2017: Trey Gowdy votes for HR 1181, which would allow veterans deemed mentally incompetent to continue to own firearms, and not have them taken away without a judge's written order. We feel safer already.
    • March 28th, 2017: Rep. Gowdy votes for SJ Res 34, which allowed internet providers to sell the data information of their customers' internet usage to businesses. Well, so much for privacy.
    • May 4th, 2017: Gowdy votes for the House GOP's healthcare plan, that would kick roughly 24 million people off their health insurance plans, allow up to 28,000 more people to die a year, give $50,000 in tax breaks to millionaires, and would eliminate coverage for pre-existing conditions which would include such medical conditions as pregnancy (current or past), post-partum depression, or prior sexual assault. Oh, and a provision in the bill would make sure that Gowdy would be allowed to keep his healthcare plan as it exists under the ACA, which would be repealed for the rest of the country. He and his Republican compatriots threw themselves a beer bash to celebrate taking away healthcare from millions and then gloated about it with Donald Trump at a White House press conference, as well.
    • June 8th, 2017: Trey Gowdy votes for HR 10, the GOP’s attempt to repeal Dodd-Frank financial reform, because what the country really needs is to allow the big banks to make the same mistakes that imploded the economy only a decade earlier.
    • September 8th, 2017: Rep. Gowdy chooses to be one of 90 Republicans in Congress who votes against disaster relief for Hurricane Harvey.
    • October 3rd, 2017: Gowdy votes for HR 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, that would try to create an unconstitutional ban abortion at 20 weeks (even though medical science tells us fetuses do not have the capability to feel pain until 29 weeks).

As it stands at this moment, it doesn’t seem like Trey Gowdy has much to fear regarding his seat in Congress in 2018. The real question is, how much will his long-term political aspirations be damaged by what we see him do while he’s playing defense for an openly crooked White House?

Jesus Christ! Talk about downright horrific! Yeah, this makes Benghazi look like amateur night in Dixie. And yeah, Republicans will bend over backwards to keep that mess under wraps and not hold hearings and/or investigations on how that unholy clusterfuck went down. That would be a brutal disservice to both our military and the American people.

George W. Bush Condemns Trumpism, But Skips His Role In Its Rise

John Kelly Is Sad Women Are No Longer ‘Sacred.’ Women Are Not That Sad.

Trump’s chief of staff is missing the point. Of course he did. Case in point....

Kelly was born in 1950, meaning when he was “a kid growing up,” women couldn’t legally get an abortion or open credit cards in their own names. They also did not have access to the morning-after pill, couldn’t always get birth control if they weren’t married, could not marry other women, were not allowed to fight on the front lines and had little recourse for workplace sexual harassment. Marital rape was not illegal. And Kelly was born before the civil rights movement, meaning he grew up in a time when people of color, particularly women of color, did not have the same freedoms he did.
This imaginary era of “sacred” womanhood included plenty of discrimination against women; they just couldn’t always talk about it. The biggest change between then and now is not in the way men treat women but in the position women occupy within society. Since the 1950s, women have entered the workforce in droves. They have become breadwinners, CEOs and politicians. And they have become increasingly vocal about their experiences with sexual violence and discrimination, including in the Marine Corps, where Kelly served as a general.

When women do speak up ― as they have in the cases of Bill Cosby, Roger Ailes, Bill O’Reilly, Harvey Weinstein and President Trump ― they are reclaiming their agency.
And women called Major Dad to task on Twitter for his comments:

    Talia Lavin:
"Women were sacred" when you grew up, John Kelly? When spousal rape was legal and we couldn't work? When we were kept out of college?
    Scarin Gloria Ryan:
Trump had bragged about sexual assault & as president been openly hostile to women. Spare me this “women should be sacred” tripe.
    Imani Gandy:
Women aren’t sacred. Women are people. We aren’t mystical beings.

Senate Republicans Block Measure To Protect Arctic Wildlife Refuge From Oil Drilling

“The notion that we, tonight, after 60-plus years, would give up what is a biologically important area ... for what? For oil we don’t need?” By the way, Lisa Murkowski who help torpedo Trumpcare was one of the votes to block that measure. So she's on my GOP shit list.
