Who knew that an X-Men movie would be the highest grossing superhero movie of the year? After the last two films only made 300 and 400 mil a pop, Fox has to be thrilled
Marvel: Amazing Spider-Man, Magneto, Hawkeye, Daredevil
DC: Batman, Batman External, Justice League, Superman, Grayson

If this is a sign of the films return to quality then I say keep the streak going.

    Also congratulations Marky Mark

In fairness, who knew it would make close to MCU levels of money? DOFP is clearly the highest grossing X-Film atm

True, GotG is still there but I'm just surprised it made more money worldwide than Spider-Man and Captain America. The X films have never really been great internationally till DoFP

OTOH if 5-10 years ago you suggested a Captain America film would outdo a Wolverine from the year before, Spider-Man the same year and come close to the biggest X-Men film people would be trying to put you in a padded cell. Was anyone picking Cap to be in 2nd place before it came out? From name brands alone it seemed like TWS would end up 3rd this year.

Not really because Cap is associated with Avengers now.

As stated by another poster, it's not (YET). That honor (so far) still belongs to CAPTAIN AMERICA:TWA. Also, domestically, the movie kind of under performed (but not as much as THE WOLVERINE and FIRST CLASS) at the box office.

Hell, I'm thrilled since this was a movie that Claremont consulted on, which was Singer and FOX's way of giving Mark Millar the virtual finger.

It's actually just barely over Cap now

It will likely surpass that 10 million dollar mark necessary to beat out Cap in the coming weeks. Even if it doesn't quite get there, the fact that an X-Men movie all but tied the best Phase 2 MCU film yet released is victory enough.

The fact that DOFP has made enough money that reaches the same caliber as the MCU films is a feat in itself.
