Default The original Avengers comic book. What issues to read?

Today I'm going to do some binge reading of the original Avengers comic and I just read the first issue half an hour ago.

I'm mostly going to read a few issues though from the 1960s to 1970s of the Avengers to get the gist of characters like vision, ultron and others.

What issues should I read like every issue of a few issues here and there?

Issue 4. First silver age appearance of Captain America.
Issue 16. Cast changeover, Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch join the team.
Issue 28. Hank Pym rejoins the team, as Goliath. Wasp also rejoins.
Issue 38. Hercules joins the team.
Issues 51-52. Black Panther joins the team.
    Issues 54-55. Ultron's first appearance.
Issues 57-58. Vision joins the team.
Issue 59-60. Hank Pym becomes Yellowjacket and marries Wasp.
Issue 63. Hawkeye becomes the new Goliath.

Depends if you read other books:
Issues 21-22. First appearance of the villain called Power Man, who would later become Atlas of the Thunderbolts.
Issue 53. The original Avengers vs X-Men!
Issues 69-70. First appearance of the Squadron Sinister.

More or less, basically the whole Roy Thomas run.

The first 40 issues aren't the best. The series only really takes off when John Buscema starts drawing. Issues 41-202 are considered classic.

Issue 41-44: Captain America vs. Red Guardian
    Issue 47-49, 53 and X-Men 42-45: the first Avengers/X-Men crossover
    Issue 54-55: first Ultron
    Issue 57-58: first Vision
    Issue 66-68: introduction of adamantium
Issue 69-71: first Grandmaster, first Invaders, and first Squadron Supreme
    Issue 89-97: Kree-Skrull War
Issue 116-188/Defenders 8-11: Avengers Defenders War
Issue 125, Captain Marvel 35-33: Thanos War
    Issue 129-134, Giant-Size Avengers 2-4: Celestial Madonna
Issue 141-144, 147-149: Serpent Crown, first George Perez art
Issue 158-177: Jim Shooter's first run, many great stories
Issue Annual 7 and Marvel Two-In-One Annual 2: Final Night
    Issue 181-187: Wundagore Nights
Issue 194-196: first Scott Lang as Ant-Man

I made a list recently. I hope it helps and people could critique it. It's a lot more than you probably want, but the goal was to hit highlights. Generally, I know people like Roy Thomas and Steve Englehart, so it leans towards that:

Avengers 1 (The Coming of the Avengers)
Avengers 4 (Captain America Joins... The Avengers)
    Avengers 6
    Avengers 8-11
Avengers 16 (The Old Order Changeth)
    Avengers 47
    Avengers 52
Avengers 54-55 (The Masters of Evil)
Avengers 57-58 (Even an Android Can Cry)
Avengers 59-60 (His Name is Yellowjacket)
Avengers 69-71 (Let the Game Begin)
    Avengers 72
    Avengers 73-74
    Avengers 75-76
    Avengers 83-86
    Avengers 89-97 (Kree/Skrull War)
Avengers 102-104 (Sentinels Are Alive and Well)
    Avengers 105
    Avengers 106-108
    Avengers 109
    Avengers 110, DD 99, Avengers 111
    Avengers 112-114

    Avengers/Defenders War
    ----------------------
    Avengers 115
    Defenders 8
    Avengers 116
    Defenders 9
    Avengers 117
    Defenders 10
    Avengers 118
    Defenders 11
    Avengers 119

    Avengers 120-122
    Avengers 123-124
    Avengers 125 (Thanos Saga)
    Avengers 126
Avengers 127 & Fantastic Four 150 (Wedding of Crystal and Quicksilver)
    Avengers 128-129 (Celestial Madonna starts)
    Giant Size Avengers 2
    Avengers 130-132
    Giant Size Avengers 3
    Avengers 133-135 (Celestial Madonna ends)
    Avengers 137-138
    Avengers 139-140
    Avengers 141-144 (The Serpent Crown)
    Avengers 147-149 (The Serpent Crown)
    Avengers 150
    Avengers Ann. 6
    Avengers 157-159 (Black Knight/Graviton)
    Avengers 160 (The Trial)
Avengers 161-162 (The Bride of Ultron)
Avengers Ann. 7 (The Final Threat)
    Marvel Two-in-One Ann. 2 (TFT)
    Avengers 164-166 (Nefaria Supreme)
    Avengers 167-177 (The Korvac Saga)
Avengers 185-187 (The Night of Wundagore)
Avengers 194-196 (The Terrible Toll of the Taskmaster)
    Avengers 198-200
Avengers 212-213, 217 (The Court Martial of Yellowjacket)
Avengers Ann. 10 (Betrayal by a Friend)
Avengers 227-230 (The Trial of Hank Pym)
    Avengers 251-254 (Absolute Vision)

I'm stopping right before West Coast Avengers. Obviously, these are a lot of issues, but that's my planned reading order when I get around to it.
    Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!
Thomas More - A Man for All Seasons

Interested in reading Daredevil? Not sure what to read next? Why not check out the Daredevil Book Club for some ideas?

    This is the answer.

I would add the Busiek/Perez run from 98 too.
    DC - Green Arrow - All-Star Batman - Batman - Detective Comics - Batwoman - Nightwing - Titans - Deathstroke - Harley Quinn
    MARVEL - Star Wars
    IDW - Ragnarok
