Unlike the Waynes and Ben Parker, the elder Kents seem to check in and out of Clark's life every few years.

They were dead (Silver Age), and then they lived again (Post-COIE). Then Jonathan died (Post-INFINITE CRISIS) while Martha lived, and now they're both dead again (REBIRTH). If the trend stays true to form, they'll probably revolve their way back again in a few years when another crew of writers decides they want more Jonathan/Martha living in adult Clark's life again.

It's funny, but I never thought of the Kents as dead during the Bronze Age, since they were always around back then.

Yep. They were even around Saturday mornings for the Superboy episodes of The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure.

I think you're blowing this one out of proportion man.

The Kents were dead from the very start until post-Crisis. Fifty years where they didn't live at all outside of flashbacks (Superboy) or weird stories where Pa gets to live for a day or whatever. Then they were both alive for twenty-ish years until Pa died. Then just a short couple years later they were dead again and it seems they remain that way.

If this is a revolving door, it's turning really, really, really slowly. Fifty years as one thing, less than thirty before they were dead again. Not exactly a ever-shifting status.
