Love Hardy. One of my favorite actors. Think he would have been an AWESOME Agent Venom.. but I'll settle to see him as Eddie Brock.

I can definitely see Hardy as Brock, so strong casting on that front. He's definitely got the build for it .

It's also kind of funny to see him move from playing Bane to playing Venom .

Though it's a shame he and Holland probably won't get the chance play off each other...

A Venom movie with no connection to Spidey is still stupid to me.

Wow the potential for this to be good just jumped up quite a few notches.

He's a great actor, this film looks a lot better now, but I just don't see how they can do justice the characater without including Spider-Man.

    It's completely nonsensical.

'Oh wait, here's another guy who sticks to walls, swings around on webs he's spun himself, and has a big spider on his costume. But nope! He has absolutely nothing to do with Spider-Man!'
His current approval rating is 34%, meaning 34% of Americans are still morons.

Sony got the talent right in for the actor. Let's hope they do the same with the writer

    Oh sh*t,

Now Sony actually has something for this movie. Tom Hardy could be amazing as Brock / Venom.

Tom Hardy's a great choice to play Brock/Venom, it just really sucks he'll be stuck with this film.

Again, like many others have said, you can't have a Venom origin movie without Spider-Man, it makes no sense. Unless you decide to completely skip the origin, which at this point would probably make even less sense.

"When New York is in ashes…you have my permission to die."
But in all seriousness, I've still got concerns about this movie but at least we've got a solid Venom cast.

Wish they got him to play Sam Fisher, but hey, who knows, maybe the movie will be alright in and of itself if they explain Venom as being an AU Spider-Man, where alien slime from space instead of a spider bite gave Brock powers.

I second this as Venom film may be a difficult task to pull off without any mention of Spider-man regardless of the star power behind it.
