    Default REVIEW: Spider-Man 2099, #1

In "Spider-Man 2099" #1 by Peter David and Will Sliney, Miguel O'Hara must corral his hilariously self-centered plutocratic grandfather and fight off a time-travelling armored agent who has a mission to kill him.

I agree...this is a great start for the new series. I can hardly wait until he gets to go back to 2099...I hope we can get a continuation of the old series sooner or later...I think it's high tune for a venture or vulture comeback...but I doubt old storylines such as the net prophet and xina storyline would benefit anyone...prob best to mostly do new storylines....but I'd like to see gabe again.

Looks like Gabe does show up in SSM 32 at least.

I would have given it 4/5 to be honest. I really enjoyed this, and it was a nice opening issue.

I agree, I liked this first issue. Apart from his involvement in SSM I'm new to this character. I'm looking forward to learning more about him.

This was a great issue. A nice blend of action, comedy and character work. It has everything a first issue needs to get the reader excited and up to speed, as well as leave him wanting for more. Even the art has grown on me since I first saw the short backup in Amazing Spider-Man #1. Hopefully Sliney will get even better.

The 2099 series from the '90s were terrible and I have absolutely no nostalgia whatsoever attached to them. When Miguel O'Hara showed up in Superior Spider-Man I could care less. Even when Spider-Man 2099 got a few pages in the back of Amazing Spider-Man #1, I wasn't feeling it. But Peter David has won me over. The writing in this issue is superb. I'm not familiar with anything from David before All-New X-Factor, but, apparently, he's kind of a big deal. And now I see why. Just... everything... from the wisecracks to the overall story--the writing here sucks you in and doesn't let you go.
