Default CBR Cover Contest: July 12 to July 18 - Declaration of 'Indie'pendents

In honor of the American Independence Day, here is a double challenge. First, all comic covers must be from Indie Publishers [NOT Marvel, NOT DC, NOT any precursors to or affiliates of either DC or Marvel], any other publisher that isn't Marvel or DC is fine. Second, Only One Character on the covers. Random animals or other background is fine, but the cover should be about and focus on just the one character.

    Example:

    The rules:

Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
The cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins (on Tuesday)
Contest begins 12 PM Wednesday (today) and runs until 12 AM Tuesday PDT (i.e., 3 AM Wednesday EDT!).

Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to tally votes.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.

It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules, you don't need to argue it in the thread, simply don't vote for it.

    Also:
Occasionally Voting will Result in a Tie! The Person Who Started the Thread and Thus will do the Counting that Week will Usually call for a TIE-Breaking Vote from Someone who has Not Yet Voted!

AFTER the Tie-Breaker Vote, Voting Ends and the Winner is Declared by The One Who Started the Thread (or assigned surrogate) and Thus will do the Counting.

She may be wearing Havoc's hand-me-downs, but Ms. Mystic is a truly independent woman.

Damn, it's a Marvel cover and there are two frog men.

I need to break a sweat this week. Great idea, Tami. It makes many of us go outside our comfort zones.

I've had this idea in mind for quite awhile after noticing how 75% or more of the comic book covers submitted are usually either Marvel or DC. Figured Indie/Non-Marvel or DC comics didn't get enough love or attention.

You're right about that, Tami. The non-Big Two also need some love!

Heh. Seems like that cover pops up at least half the time in these contests.

EDIT: Contest has ended, so I am removing this cover. I love this cover and want to "save"/use it for a future contest.

There came a time when the name edhopper died! The final moment came with the fatal release of indescribable power--which tore every post that bore the name edhopper asunder--split it linto a new identity, and filled CBR with the blinding death flash of it's destruction! In the end there was a new user name, spinning slow and barren, clean of all that had gone before, adrift in the fading sounds of binary thunder...THEN----THERE WAS KIRBY101
