    Default PREVIEW: Wytches #1

Scott Snyder (Batman, Superman Unchained, SEVERED) and Jock (Batman, Wolverine, SNAPSHOT) will team up for a new, ongoing horror series called WYTCHES. Everything you thought you knew about witches is wrong. They are much darker, and they are much more horrifying.
WYTCHES takes the mythology of witches to a far creepier, bone-chilling place than readers have dared venture before. "I like taking classic monsters and reimagining them in a fresh, contemporary, and much scarier way," said Snyder.

I may actually get the singles for this instead of trade waiting.

    Yup, I agree.

Snyder on a horror title? And Jock? Take my damn money already!
If you are not reading Lazarus, you should be.

Scott's done a lot of horror stuff, but I've got to say, none of it has really made me feel as unsettled as that preview did. So looking forward to this book.

Also, got to give props to Hollingsworth. His colors on Jock's art look great. One of the best colorists in the game right now.

The way Snyder pitched it at Image Expo is that the typical witches we all know and think about are those who worship the "true" witches (or wytches) which are these "primal cannibalistic creatures"

This has actually become the deciding factor for me on which books to trade wait and which to buy monthly. I know the publisher doesn't care either way, but I like to think I'm making some sort of statement, be it ever so humble...

Yes! Ever since Image Expo I've been waiting for an announcement on a release date. Figured because it was a horror title it would be October and now it is! I've loved The Wake. Can't wait for that final issue this month. Haven't read American Vampire, but I'm sold on Wytches!
