But we're talking about fictional fantasy-characters, and as I pointed out, these days even comparative lightweights like the Wasp have been seen doing big punchout scenes. Other examples include characters like the Dazzler and Marvel Girl, who have been seen putting the slug on male villains even though none of these gals are supposed to be great athletes.

Zatanna's another example of a superheroine who mostly dates regular guys.

Most women might not punch much, but they still hit in various ways, and often feel freer to do so in any given situation because society allows for it. And women really enjoy seeing other women hitting men, regardless of context. It gives them a feeling of "girl power" catharsis without putting themselves at risk. Ergo, it's no wonder you see it a lot in fiction. Especially hero fiction, where hitting solves 99.99999% of all problems.

At least, this is the impression the Media gives me. And the Media never lies, as we know.

That's because most women aren't superheroines. And since we're here, most men don't punch either. I don't think many men here have thrown a punch at anyone in quite some time.

Most men don't know how to throw a punch. Even the "haymaker" requires some skill.

I know what you mean. I get hit by trees while riding my bike all the time. They clearly don't think they need to watch where they're going, as if they own the place or something.

Are these the same women who also think they are as strong as men?

I'm not trying to be a sexist here but there is a reason why in most sports, men and women are not competing each other. Basketball. Baseball. Tennis. Weightlifting. etc.

Going back to the OP, here are some super-strong heroines who are not dupes of male characters:

    ELASTI-GIRL
    MEGGAN (when she bulks up)
    NIGHT GIRL
    WONDER WOMAN
WONDER GIRL (however many of them there may be)
    BUFFY SUMMERS
    ALL OF THE POWERPUFF GIRLS
    BRAVA (Strikeforce Morituri)

and the ancestor of them all, designed to get everyone here to look her up on Wikipedia--

    THE GOLDEN AMAZON

I'm pretty sure there are more.
