I wonder if Francavilla used 1972 as a reference nod to Dracula A.D. 1972 by Hammer Horror? A fun different installment of Christopher Lee's famous Dracula saga.

The movie was a fun "wait, what?" 70s (with all its tropes) and gothic fusion. Christopher Lee as Dracula and Cushing's Van Helsing and 70s youngsters in 1970s London.

I used to love those old Hammer House movies and thanks to them I don't think anyone else could ever embody those roles like those two. In my eyes anyway.

Anybody notice that the scene in Dark Knights: Metal #1 where they have the "map" of the Dark Multiverse is a rip-off of the scene from episode #2 of the first season of Stranger Things where 11 explains that Will is "hiding."
