    It's not actually.
The X-Men cartoon is a retelling of specific X-Men comics, watered down.
Homecoming tells its own story. It's its own thing. There is no comic you can point to to say, "look, the original version of Homecoming was much deeper with more deaths".

And it has the only version of the Vulture ever I can take seriously.
Fincher slammed what he slammed but he slAmmed mcu specifically. True that the xmen cartoon is re telling of xmen stories watered down and as watered down as the cartoon is, it is still more adult than mcu disney movies. do meditate on that.

Homecoming did not tell its own story because we got shoved with more mindless avengers stuff. spiderman 1 and 2 told it own story in a believable self contained universe with a single person vision and not a co-operate vision that is usually soulless.
When you have david fincher and others telling us how bad the mcu movies are? fans of a series like xmen cannot in gore that because most of us agree. sorry.

We dont want avengers or gotg xmen movies. we want TDK, LOGAN and X2. That is more true to the xmen lore than mcu movies. sorry again.

There will still be people hating it, but they will blame Disney instead of Sony for it being bad. That will be the main difference.

X-Men need to have a certain edge to them. They've always been a little darker than the rest of the MU barring the street level heroes. Being under Disney I believe we'd see that edge dulled significantly. Like a cake frosting spatula dull. I'm all for keeping them separate if it means the X-Men would end up neutered.

Realistically speaking about fictional matters. | Nutcases need not respond. | Stay outta my DMs. | Why does the "House of Ideas" keep duplicating characters?! | If an idea or belief cannot stand up to criticism it's probably... bad.

The darkest Star Wars movie happened under Disney. So there's no evidence that X-Men would loose their "edge".

The Dark Knight was so grounded in reality WB was going to put another version of Batman with Armie Hammer playing Bruce Wayne in Justice League Mortal because they couldn't picture Nolan's Batman in a world with real Superheroes and Supervillains. Which was great for those films Batman lends himself to realism and Dark Knight was Fantastic as was Logan but Logan did the same thing to Wolverine as Dark Knight did to Batman. Wolverine does lend himself to realism but Logan took almost all elements of it being a comic book character and stripped them away Logan went one step further to point at the comics and remark how "Ridiculous" they were with their costumes which honestly is my one grip with Logan since it felt disrespectful to the source material. Jesus if people and film makers are ashamed of comic book films then don't watch them or use their characters and create something new instead of trying to take comic book characters and robbing them of all their comic book uniqueness and making them just another action movie.

well, disney did make all the rules for the film. remember when disney said spidey cannot throw punches at the villains for kids? and the over the top light tone feel of the film compared to raimi movies that had a balance and did not feel you were watching a tv disney movie.

Sony did well with the first spiderman trilogy. they never needed Disney and they know it now, homecoming was a hot mess.

it is called pushing the genre forward since the 60s. interesting fact about marvel. marvel was always more grounded in reality than DC..reason their characters lived in real places like newyork unlike dc characters that lived in smallville or gotham and xmen had soap opera heavy elements.

disney changed that because the more cartoonish comic films looked, they more money they will make. that is not xmen.

I think the point was that the real isn’t a place where people come back to life like in comic books.

...and Logan stars a guys who came back from the dead by transforming his consciousness to his brain dead twin brother, who also ended up in a wheelchair for some reason. *sigh*

well... most people don't think that X-men are very grounded. Al these time travels, ressurections, reality warpers and telepaths who can mind crontrol anyone on earth.

Marvel hasn't been grounded since the 90's don't even try and put the blame on Disney, especially since they don't control the comics what so ever all they do is give Marvel money.

No it called being ashamed of the source material. You want to know why the Marvel Universe was in New York because Stan knew New York he lived there and it's the same as to why characters are named Bruce Banner, Reed Richards, Peter Parker, Scott Summers, Warren Worthington III, Sue Storm, Stephen Strange, Matt Murdock, etc Stan openly has admitted he always had a bad memory so he made things simple to remember. Marvel's step forward in the 60's was giving their characters real personalities with faults, problems, and humor yes humor that thing you treat as a four letter word which made them more human and relatable. Also Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and the rest never shied away from the fantastic over the top elements of their books they embraced them and took their readers to New worlds and realms. I know you'll mock it although it is a success with critics, audiences, and financially Thor Ragnarok is the most Jack Kirby looking material ever put to film and I love that.
